PlayTV coming to Australia and Europe in Quarter 4 - Image 1It appears that last year's speculation is actually pretty spot-on. Sony's Sydney branch has recently clarified that they will be launching their PlayTV attachment for the PlayStation 3 for Australia by the fourth quarter of this year.

The company didn't give any specifics regarding its exact launch date or price, though they estimated it would be arriving for less than AUS$ 200 (US$ 186). Moving on, Sony has also clarified that Europe will be getting the PlayTV around a month before its Australian release.

Other details that were announced are that the PlayTV dongle  only has an input port for your TV antenna. Users won't be able to connect their TV to the antenna via the PlayTV. Programs transferred to the PS3 can also be backed up to an external hard drive. That's all the details we've picked up so far. Drop by again in case we run into more related details.
