After finally coming out on top, it looks like Sony is looking to press its advantage by announcing their upcoming BD Live update for the PlayStation 3, which should be arriving as early as May or June.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the BD Live initiative, this allows your Blu-ray releases to have extended features by going online and looking for related content appropriate to your Blu-ray title.
Sony mentioned this little tidbit to Home Cinema Choice Magazine. In the company's statement, PS3 owners can expect the new firmware update to go live once the first BD Live stand alone players hit the market this Summer.
Most likely, the company was referring to the Panasonic DMP-BD50, which is believed to be the first Blu-ray player to feature BD-Live. The player and the accompanying PS3 firmware update can be expected to hit the streets be late May or early June.
In any case, we'll just have to wait and see if Sony decides to release any more information on this in the coming months. We'll be sure to update everyone with any news we get on this, so make sure to keep coming back to this spot.
