It appears that Sony has jumped in on Profile 1.1 party with its recent announcement of the Resident Evil: Extinction Blu-ray  title. Sony has planned a January 2, 2008 release for the Blu-ray version of the box office hit. The suggested retail price for Sony's Resident Evil: Extinction Blu-ray movie currently stands US$39.98.

Aside from the main feature film, Sony has also planned a host of exclusive content for their Resident Evil Extinction Blu-ray movie. These include: the "Under the Umbrella" video commentary and the "Blu-Wizard 2.0" version of Sony's disc search content and organization interface. The Resident Evil: Extinction disc will reportedly also include the supplements from the standard-def DVD version of the film.

And in case you're wondering, Capcom has confirmed that Sony's Resident Evil: Extinction Blu-ray will not include the previously announced playable demos of Resident Evil 5 and Devil May Cry 4 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC). Instead, fans of the series will have to make do with high-def trailers of both games (at least for now).

 » $39.98, Oh Come On!

That is too high. Why should we have to pay that much for one movie? This movie should be $30 tops, and many movies that are $30 are even not worth half that. A lot of people that make low wages can't afford to work 4 to 6 hours just to earn enough money to buy a lackluster movie. If companies want everyone to be able to buy their products, they need to think about that.

Sony is fools if they think people are going to spend $40 on a movie. People dont want to spend $15- $25 on regular dvds. They need to get their pricing together like dropping regular dvds and moving these HD movies like Blu-ray into those $slots. That will increase sales tremendously.

Well, Christmas _is_ approaching. That might be one factor as to why the price is the way it is...
