inFamous - Image 1In an interview with Eurogamer last week, Nate Fox of Sucker Punch answered a question on whether long games were sustainable in the current climate of rising dev costs and falling share prices. His repsonse: "It seems to me that it's not about lenght, but about quality."

This statement is benign in itself, had he not added that inFamous will place the highest value on quality. It only takes a few to put two and two together to come up with a plausible, but not entirely true, conclusion that inFamous is gonna be a short game.

Because of this hullabaloo, Sony had to release an official statement on the matter to refute the conspiracy theories once and for all. "inFamous is still in development at Sucker Punch, and the game's length is still to be determined."

So there you go. No disappointingly short game time for inFamous. For now. We'll keep you posted on more as they come.

 » its not like

they're going to decide to expand the plot completely to make it go from a really short game to an awesomely long game. At this point, some things are set in stone. I'm assuming the length is one of them. The game's content is usually decided long before development starts.

I was really looking forward to this game but $60 for it is out of the question if its that short. Oh well, maybe if it's cheaper or as a rental would be worth it. I don't want to feel the "Sucker Punch".

 » What???

Since when did putting quality over quantity automatically mean that it is going to be a short game? I take that to mean that they are not going to make the game extra long just to say "hey, look at how long our game is!". That could mean that it may be 20hrs instead of 30. But it doesn't mean that it will be 5hrs people. At least wait until you actually find out how long a the game is before you start bashing it!
