Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) Marketing Senior Vice President Peter Dille himself made a post on the PlayStation Blog to announce the largest ever advertising campaign for a hardware platform, all to support the Sony PlayStation 3 and the release of its US$ 399 40GB model. As a start, Sony is dishing out TV ads that showcase the PS3's features.

"We wanted to move beyond the 'power' message with a more high-energy, entertainment driven focus for the PS3," said Dille. He continued, "The games are here, the price point is now $399 and we wanted to make the news loud and clear." Of course, it's not all about the games, because Dille promised a strong push behind the PS3's Blu-ray movie capability and the PlayStation Network.

Speaking of games, the TV spots Dille posted are packed with the hottest high-profile titles for the PS3. While the spotlight is on first-party games, either those already in the market like Heavenly Sword and Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction or upcoming ones such as Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, third-party titles are expected to join the mix. Dille went as far as saying Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the "mother of all exclusives."

When all is said and done, probably just like you, we simply want to see Sony's explosive offering for this holiday season. Without further ado, here are the TV spots "Universe of Entertainment" and "Only On."

this is just a remark, I think it was quite good, it definitely will have more impact on people than complexe and subtle ones.

 » well it's their fault

if they didn't make so many different types of the same system they wound not have to redo their ad campaign

The new add is not because of a new SKU it's to catch the attention of people that may not know just how much the PS3 has to offer. At least eveysingle one of the PS3's SKU's have had a Hard Drive, is more than I can say for the CrapBox 360. I'm sorry I had to go off-subject but there's always someone that has to talk trash and it irritates the hell out of me. Sorry everybody. Great Add and I'm sure they'll get better as Christmas draws closer.

notice the new logo(PSN) and it doesnt lk bad after the color touch up

   by PimpnPaul99 - 2007-11-02
 » good ad

ya those are really good ads, if Sony could have had the 399 price point from the get go I bet Sony would be wiping the floor with the competition right now. But, they didn't , so now they have less than 20% market share (globally), They have only sold 5 million, vs 12.2 million of Wii and 360. If sony started outselling their competition 3:1 for the next year, they still wouldn't be on top, which leads me to the conclusion that they NEVER will be on top in this generation.

Don't get me wrong, I hope they will do better, I had PS1 and PS2 and enjoyed alot of the games, and I WILL buy a PS3 if they can come up with some exclusive killer apps.. I just wonder how long it is going to take....

I didn't know there are people that can see the future already? How do I learn that ability dude??

 » Hey PimpnPaul99!!!

How much money will I have by the year 2015?

You look like a very reliable economic and marketing forcast agency so I thought I would take your expert advice...

LOL

   Re: Eclipze_ - 2007-11-02
» You dont need to see into the future to see

that Mgs4, killzone 2, and the others are killer apps. So I you wont have to wait long I guess.
But im now worrying about the future, im waiting for call of duty 4 in 3 days.

   Re: PimpnPaul99 - 2007-11-02
 » Economics

How much money will you make in 2015? You need to make about 3% ( I think) more each year just to keep up with inflation. So you better hope you get a promotion.

One does not need to be an economics major to see that at Sony's current rate of console selling, they will never be able to catch up with and beat Nintendo and MS. If sony Doubles their console sell rate and MS and Nintendo stay the same, by this time 2008, you can expect Sony to have ( assuming sales increase 200%) 15 million consoles sold, Xbox to have 18 Million, and Wii to have 24 Million.

So, as I said, if Sony outsells their competition 3:1 for 12 consecutive months, They STILL wont be ahead. And don't even get me started on how unlikely it is for Sony to triple sales of either 360 or Wii... Especially Wii.

That being said, I hope that MGS4 and Killzone 2 are good enough to make me want a PS3, I would love to have one to watch HD movies on my projector...

When does Killzone 2 come out anyways?

   Re: demondirk - 2007-11-02
» sony will catch up in 2030

gaming comes from the roots which sony has none of

   Re: Eclipze_ - 2007-11-02
 » Pimpn.. you a dumbas5

you too demondirk. If you really had any knowledge about it you'd notice that the damn 360's been out a whole years before any of the other consoles, so nuh duh you dumbas5 (how the hell are they supposed to get enough sells to make two years worth?).
I personally dont give a 5hit if they catch up, cause all that matters is the console itself. And in Japan the PS3 is catching up to the Wii sells.

Basically your a dumbas5 if you pay attention to those numbers that much, damn robot.

I'm not a fan of sony but I have to give it to them that is a great ad. Too bad you have to have good games to "back that ad up".
