Please make this game!!! I actually saved the vids and they are awsome! A definite purchase game...
I didn't realize Sony owned the rights to the GB content. Thats awesome lol. Anyone could see this comming tho, Zootfly just made some content based on copyrighted material without going through the works of getting permission to do so... and they got shut down.
If Sony was smart they'd look into what was being done and green light the production for atleast their own console, if not for others too.
phuck j00 Sony!!!
Ghostbusters would be one sweet game and if this was to be an exclusive I am all for that. I do hope that it will have online play though. Even if people on the 360 can not play it I think that sucks. But this is a Sony IP so they should only get it. Plus this could be a hit and Sony will want this game to come out.
So I think we will see this game come out but only on the PS3. The good news about this will be it will use more power of the PS3.
lame fanboy :P
Ok, we've seen Sony make PLENTY of stupid moves within the past year. PS3 got off to a rocky start, and they've dug themselves a hole. But WTF. Are they really THIS stupid to shut down such a hyped thing such as a ghostbusters game or even possibly green lighting the third movie? Maybe Sony really does just want to piss people off and run themselves out of business...
Sony owns the rights to ghost busters. Why in the hell would they allow that game to be hyped for another system!! your truely are a stupid idiot. Sony did the right thing. Now they will negotiate with the developers. They should have contacted sony prior to announcing the game. Especially sense they never got permission.
Djl245 Sony OWNS GB!!
You cant just use somebody's own licence with out their promition thats theft.
e.g New Zelda game made by Bioware without Ninny's premission understand?
Sony could have handled it way better, now they have justed pissed a bunch of consumers off. And i love these your and idiot posts, when the poster couldnt even comprehend what was being said by the original poster. LMAO
I understood what Djl245 said, and i agree with it to an extent. But the fact still remains that Zootfly used a licence that thay dont own , or didnt get permission to use in the first place!(Would of been cool to see what the finished game could of become)
Thats annoying as hell.
Yea, i know Sony owns GB. But instead of just killing off the thing entirely, and wiping out all the videos creating the hype, they'd be smart to bring this to the PS3. Look at all the talk it's getting. They'd be STUPID not to attempt to make this a PS3 game. So many people want this game to happen. This could just be another hit title to bring to the PS3 to strenghthen it's lineup
exactly, sony could have two good games in its lineup instead of just one! HAHA
Yes sony had the vids pulled and told zootfly to take all gb related content of of thier site but zootfly said that negoatiations with sony or the right to release the game is still going on, We could see a game in the next few years. I think the concept of a gb game is great but from what i saw of the gameplay videos, it needs to be redesigned to be more true to the original. "ghost terminated"... yea there already dead. the mechanics seem good enough tho. the video of the proton pack in action was almost spot on with the movies, shooting in an unpredictible pattern when not locked on to a ghost.
I think some of the posters here are confusing the video game side of Sony, and the theatrical side. Yes, they're all part of one big company, but they often do things separately. Think of Sony as a family; the video game side is one person, and the motion picture side is another. Sometimes you're going to act on something without consulting your sibling, and I strongly believe Sony Pictures Entertainment acted on this without any input from SCEA. They hold the license to Ghostbusters, and they're going to protect it.
Zoofly made a very, very stupid move by creating those videos and posting them, and I have to wonder if they're even in negotiations for the rights to use the characters. Look at it this way - if you were negotiating for something, why would you want to show how much interest there is for the property? You're just going to 1) drive the price up, or 2) notify your competitors that there's interest in a Ghostbusters game, so they may start a bidding war for the license. I deal with home video companies on TV shows, and if one company is trying to license material from another, they don't want ANYONE TO KNOW because it could spoil their potential deal. This just isn't how deals are done, which makes me think Zootfly is full of it and just wanted to get more press for the game they ARE working on (I forget the name).
Gord
people get pissed off at Sony for having content based off of one of their licenses, pulled from the internet, due to legit legal reasons, but when Nintendo stops *HOMEBREWERS* from doing a 2D remake of The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, or Square-Enix for stopping homebrewers from doing a 3D remake of Chrono Trigger, people are all for it, and "it serves those homebrewers right!"
chances are, zootfly did this to get some good PR attention, due to the universal love of the Ghostbusters license, so they let the footage "slip," probably also hoping to get the attention of a publisher, who'd want to work with them on making the final product. well, they got attention alright, from the rights holders, Sony Pictures.
Sony Pictures (different from Sony Playstation, by the way), was right to pull the material from the net, especially when there was no deal in place to begin with.
i'm sure a Ghostbusters game will come, it's just a matter of time. I think zootfly should have held their load until a firm deal was in place. now they may lose it completely.
We are NOT hearing the whole story here. Not even close.
I dont know anything about Zootfly, but I find it hard to believe they would be so stupid about a copywrite. Any businessman in his right mind, would have first obtained the rights before starting work on the game. I bet you that Zootfly did exactly that. They got the license from sony pictures. But later, the sony videogames department realised that this game was being developed for the 360. Now they are pulling strings and trying to prevent such a great game title from being released on anything other then PS3.
That is only my guess, but I bet I hit it dead on. There is nothing copywrite infringement going on. Sony made the deal without realising that it would not be a PS3 game.
umm did you not read the really first article that said zootfly did not have any permission yet and is trying to get license rights?
it was in clear day "trying to get license rights to produce a gb game"
and it is not only SONY that has rights but BILL MURRAY has rights to the movies too. every one knows that bill is a ***** in person and DOES NOT want this licensed.
so instead of blaming one source read about who has rights to what.
