Note the question mark in the title. See that big question mark? Good.  Just checking if you're reading.

Despite the noticeable leanings of GameFAQs forums poster Masoku towards a next-gen console made by Microsoft - something that causes this bit of info to be doubtful, the issue is interesting/amusing/alarming (well not really alarming) enough that some of us here think it's worth nothing.

Okay, here's the pertinent quote from "Mazoku" over at the GameFAQs forums.

Also, something I forgot to mention in my initial impressions was that in the main legal agreement (which takes about a minute to scroll through) it states that if your system breaks from a Sony-created download or update that they are NOT responsible.

If you think that this is more BS from an anti-Sony fan boy, we strongly advise that you check the VIA link that we have below so you can see how the forum thread went for yourselves. As "worrying" as this may be to some, truth is we're going to have to probably wait for official word from Sony about this, you all know how complicated legal interpretations can turn out to be.

If this proves to be true, then boo for Sony, as they should be responsible for things floating around on their network. If this turns out to be bogus, well you all at least know where to point now... point and then laugh.

 » 360 > PS3

LOL omg sony sucks. 360 extended their warranties on all consoles, and Sony has no warranty at all. You just know theres gonna be a problem with an update sometime soon that will brick like 90% of the PS3s. You people are noobs for buying Sony, and even bigger noobs for spending 600 bucks on a soon-to-be bricker.

   Re: Vietone - 2006-11-18
 » Whatever

PS3 comes with a 1 year warranty, Xbox360 came with a 3 month warranty and only the initial sold consoles got warranty service, They didn't extend the warranty service, they just fixed the consoles they knew they messed up on.

No, if you knew anything about what you are talking about they legnthened all warranties to 2007 on all consoles made in 2005, soooo stfu thank you and goodday stupid sony fanboy

 » Wow....

Are you guys seriously that stupid to post any FUD on the web?

Have you ever seen varranty covering hardware broken during FLASHING the system?

Try reset your PC while updating bios, try do it during updating your DVD player. Companies don't take responsibility for that, since the process is rather risky.

Again, there's no company that takes responsibility for a system bricked during flash update. Stop spreading panic before making any investigation.

"OH DAMN YOU ALL ELECTRONICS PRODUCERS, YOU WON'T REPLACE MY SYSTEM THAT BROKE WHEN I TURNED OFF THE SYSTEM DURING UPDATE"

» dumbass that has no knowledge

is doesnt just say SYSTEM is says any DOWNLOAD(games) or UPDATES they are not responsible for.

If windows/mac had an update for security measures and it somehow was the cause for a PC/MAC to become unusable. They WOULD be held resonsible.

You dumbass.

» Wow, you just make urself look dumb

You say it doesn't just say system, but other downloads as well, then you compare it to a SYSTEM update like security measures. You cant brick a PS3 with a video file, Music File, Photo, Game, Demos. So what does that leave? SYSTEM UPDATES.

   Re: dumbass (Unregistered) - 2006-11-18
 » dumbass vietone

It also says DOWNLOADS. So if you buy the pos games that have for sell for 8$...10 if you buy a ps3 next year.

what happens if they bricks it?

Sony won't do anything.

You and knowledge must be the same person.

dumbass.

 » jeeze

The truth is, you are all microsoft fanboys, and knowledge is right. Your opinion doesn't matter after all. Its a standard legal agreement with anything that has to do with external access or control. In this case, travel through the internet toobs. Since Sony does not have any control over what happens between their servers and your house, they are not liable for those downloads.

   Re: Vietone - 2006-11-18
» Games dont access the System Software

So they CANT brick the PS3.

How idiotic do you have to be to think that a game you download can even access the system firmware, corrupt it and therefore brick your PS3.

The only possible way of bricking the PS3 is corrupted firmware, get that through your head.
   by Vietone - 2006-11-18
 » Microsoft does it too

IF your updating the Xbox360 and you turn off the console, they don't cover the system if it fails to turn on again.

No company in the world offers warranty service for interrupted Software updates.

So why bash Sony for not doing it, its fairly hard to brick your system unless its by freak accident, like your power going out during an update,in which case would be your fault because power failures are commonly caused by weather.

You cant ever brick your system by following the easy instructions of download the software, run it, make sure power doesn't get interrupted.
