It looks like people in Japan are enjoying their first dose of rumble action on the PS3 as Sony finally releases its DualShock 3 controller in stores across the country. The new controller runs on the old-school rumble technology used in its previous PlayStation controllers. We have exclusive picures of the unboxing of this newest controller recently unveiled in Japan.

Gamers in North America and Europe will have to wait until spring of 2008 to get their hands on a DualShock 3. However, we previously reported that it was possible for Dual Shock 3 controllers released in Japan to work on US and European PS3s. So if you can't wait until next year, now would be a good time to start ordering a pair of controllers online.

Taking a look at the images of the new controller, it doesn't look like there were any visible differences (asides from the logo, of course) with its previous version. There were reports that the DualShock 3 weighed slightly heavier than the DualShock 2 because of the added mechanism for its rumble support.

If you plan on getting one anytime soon, don't forget to check out the list of games that are compatible with the DualShock 3. You also can check out the rest of the screenshots we have below.

They should have copied MS and changed the L2 and R2 buttons to triggers like the 360's LT and RT. I've found that in some online matches of Resistance:FoM my fingers tend to slip off during some heavy firefights. but it's good to have Rumble back

I actually hate the 360's 'triggers' I find they're too loose and almost feel flimsy. On the flip side, I find the 360's top 'buttons' are too... stuck or something... they should be easier to press. The Sixaxis's R1/R2/L1/L2 aren't perfect but I like em more than the 360's.

They got plenty of the black boyees in stock as well (DS3) try them yo.... no funny stuff like forcing bids and making you buy other stuff just to get it. I actual heard about websites that won't sell ds3's to you unless you purchase a game or something. Beware of that people......

Actually, I like the white controllers. Primarily so when I get 2 DS3/6X's I can keep them on my Nyko 4-controller charger base with my current normal 6X's and be sure that I know which one I'm grabbing. Color coding is a good thing.

But, I believe that they are being offered in both white or black. So, you can get your black ones to match everything else and I can get my white ones to differentiate the types.

 » So what the hell

If there is no visual difference, and the controller comes in black or white, then why is the rest of the world not getting this till spring of '08? I never really heard an explanation reported by Sony so, what the hell. Is it limited quantities right now?

 » actually...

Ebay is too expensive right now. I ordered one from play asia for $70 + s&h. People are paying over $100 for them! f*ck that!
