Brain food! While you're busy trying to avoid getting crunched by hordes of Majini, Capcom's busy crunching Resident Evil 5 sales figures by the hundreds of thousands: well, one and a half million, to be exact. Yes, the NPD software sales figures for the month of March have already been released, and in that report, we find RE5 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 bringing home the bacon (and the meat, and the brains, and the guts...). In total, RE5 has sold just a little over 1.5 million in North America alone. For the record, Microsoft was right on the money when they said last month that their console would sell more RE5 units than Sony's did. Here's the breakdown:
Anyway, 1.5 million as a whole isn't a number to brush aside easily either. That's one huge achievement. Remember, RE5 got released only towards some time half into the month of March. And again, that's for North America alone. I wonder how many copies of the game has already ticked over sales counters worldwide so far. Related articles:

no wonder you think it's good. You haven't played the older ones..... -.-
It's the worst RE of all and a bad game in genera, IMO. It has nothing to do with horror anymore, and it's a completetly new genre in general.
If you want to play a REAL Resident Evil, get 1-3. 4 was a decent game, but it already began to be a shooter.

did not live up to it's "fan's" expectations. on the other hand, it ushered new audience though. mostly ppl like you who doesnt realyl know what RE is all about.

I think Capcom took extra steps to make the game suck intentionally.
Why is it so hard for them to make a game that controls well or has non-retard partner AI? Was 3 years development not enough? Also, they've managed to up the BS factor in infuriating new ways.
How are you expected to fight off a rocket launcher dude, those annoying alien looking things with visible brains, hordes of enemies that explode AFTER you've killed them, and stun rod guys that spawn 10 feet behind you when you're in a corner. All with S*ITTY last gen controls and ripoff DLC for features that would have been included in RE4 (a much better game even compared to RE5.)
I bought this game only because I thought it would be as good (and as long) as RE4.

A huge letdown for me, and I just loved RE4.

Some of you guys sound like you played the whole time alone. I had a blast and I played with a friend the entire way through so I had no problems with the AI. The controls are just fine especially once you get used to them. I'm a huge RE fan. I played every game and even read most if not all of the RE novels. I loved the storyline in this game and the nuances to the RE lore in a lot of the documents you could read and the "History of Resident Evil" in the loading screens was fan service for me. I do agree that the game was not scary, there was no horror in it, but as an action game it was great and as a RE the storyline was everything it could have been. And to Mr Common Sense, I got an S rank in the Mercenary Experimental Facility level. My advice to you is get some friends :(
PS : Capcom said this was the last Resident Evil of this kind afterward they're rebooting the series which is a fancy way of saying they're going to make it scary again and if they want to they can even ditch all of the previous stories and characters but that would suck.
