Star Ocean: The Last Hope - Image 1Following the recent announcement of Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Square Enix has reaffirmed that they currently have no plans to release the game on Sony's PlayStation 3 console via a statement published on Yahoo Japan.

A lot of people looking for a PlayStation 3 release for the latest Star Ocean adventure still remain hopeful, though, aided somewhat by Square Enix's continuing coyness about the game's Xbox 360 exclusivity.

Square Enix producer Yoshinori Yamagishi has earlier stated in an IGN interview that the game will indeed be "released first" on the Xbox 360, lending further fire to hopes that it will one day end up on Sony's console.

Others have pointed out that during the announcement for the game, there was no talk of exclusivity for Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Both Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery, however, were heavily trumpeted as being exclusive for Microsoft's home video game console.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope is currently scheduled for a 2009 release on the Xbox 360.

Thanks SE, I really appreciate you coming back to underline that kick to the balls.

SE President: How could we make great RPGS and lose money while we're at it?
SE VP: Make it for the 360; no matter how great a game is, no one will buy it because they are too busy waiting for the next pointless shooter.
PS3 Fans: WTF mate where the ***** is Final Fantasy XIII?

 » Don't ask

You really don't want to know the answer to that one. Let's just say that Final Fantasy will remain a 12 step program... with the 11th step taking upwards of 4 years.. thats another story altogether.

Now I'll have to steal my friend's 360 just to play Star Ocean.

 » SE = No logic..

So 99.9% of their games are made for Sony systems, and while I have no interest in the Star Ocean games, they go around and make this one a 360 exclusive. Am I the only one who fails to see how this works?

What I wonder if the Exclusive payments of Microsoft(And I'm pretty sure they paid them) are profitable for SE.

It would be nice if more of these came to the PS3 but really I am more interested in the exclusives that really take advantage of the system, especially the 50GB games!!!

 » Wow

Wow, way to screw with your fan base SE. Go luck making this a hit game. But then again as Silver-Tiger said, MS will just be paying you off anyways, so no big loss for you.

 » OH MY GOD.

Why the hell would you do this SE?
NOBODY bought the 360 for RPGs, they bought it so they could play their crappy FPSs with no story and online sports games. People who stayed loyal to the PS3 were mostly RPG fans, why the hell would you make this decision? Especially when the 360 sells like crap in Japan, which is your main target audience. The only reason I stuck it out with the PS3 was because you're my favorite game developer of all time. And I hoped you would be showing the system a lot of love.
This is BULL*****. I haven't been this steamed about anything in some time.

 » I'm sorry but I'm positive..

That Microsoft paid them to do this. MS loves to randomly pay for random games. Back on Xbox 1, they decided to make Dino Crisis 3 (great series, horrible game) an Xbox exclusive after MS randomly paid Capcom... I was like "WTH?" at first, then I realized the actual game had NOTHING to do with the story all the fans hoped for...

But yeah.

 » they are stupid

All the JRPG fans bought a ps3, and now we look like fools... All the JRPGs are on the x360, while the ps3 have all the shooters... something is just wrong.

ps: I'll buy a chipped x360 and let us have zero $ for the games they made on x360, but I will buy them PS3 games they make, or the ps3 versions of the games, so they MIGHT finally understand the situation... If someone could speak japanese and tell them... argh.

I LOVE FPS games. Third person shooters are cool too. Nothing wrong with that, but we are supposed to have mega amounts of JRPGs too... So m any devs are just *****ing out.
