Sony PlayStation 3 - Image 1It seems Team ICE is hot on trying to find any possible Sony PlayStation 3 exploits and the team already has several tricks up its sleeves. According to QJ.NET forums user snap006, the team agreed to release the ELF2SELF tool that it uses to run ELF files on the Sony PS3.

ELF2SELF is an exploit that utilizes Resistance: Fall of Man and Motorstorm to run ELF files. As snap006 explained, "The tool allows us to run ELF files via RFOM/MS exploit on the PS3 which can potentially lead to the first 'Hello World' on the PS3 if our cards are played right."

Not long after Team ICE made the .TIFF exploit public, the group released yet another Sony PS3 hacking tool. Does this mean we can expect the first "Hello World" on Sony's console faster than most would expect? We're sure to keep tabs on this, so watch this space for updates!

hopefully this leads to a downgrader so I can go back and install yellowdog. dtupid 2.10 doesn’t let you!

That's strange. Good thing I already have it.

That's totally wrong. Of course you can install Linux on it.

Read up on it, no hackign needed, it's supported out of the box. It's not the easiest thing, but it's totally able to be done.

I think the guy was being sarcastic. 2.10 obviously supports installing YDL amongst various others, and it's just the same install process as the other firmware versions.

I do worry sometimes! ;)

Essentially it's an EXE for PSP/2/3. I can't remember what it stands for. I'll take a wild stab at it and say Executable Language File.

i goto this cool developers site where i learn by reading what they have to say (you dont have to post to learn) and freeplay is a regular along with mathieulh, cyanide,DAX, HarleyG and others
youguys may rate hm low everytime he hs something to say
but he doesnt say it for no reason
and how ften is he wrong when he calls fake
stop rating him low because you fll for is prank once and give him the respect he deserves
here here freeplay....keep it real

Who the heck is freeplay?

I don't rate anyone. The rating system here is bogus. Unregistered user can rate and it's based on IP only.

i just hate that people that KNOW what goes on get rated so low on this site
cory1492,jas0nuk,brin_vg,mathieulh,cyanide,harleyg,DAX,freeplay and alot more deserve our full respect for everthing they contribute and all you haters ca go fruck yourselves

Never used it once on this site.. Once I post it already has a rating on mine --_--.

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-02-08
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

If they consistently don't get it then they obviously don't deserve it. Just because someone knows what's going on, that doesn't make them a decent person nor does it make HOW they communicated such information in an appropriate way.

"and all you haters ca go fruck yourselves"
Maybe that explains a lot???

All I read was a bunch of "IFs".

It's good work but it's on par with ALL other teams.

Make sure you give thanks to EVERYONE in the scene, not just who you fanboy after.

TEAM ICE has been the ONLY team to Release their work when OTHER TEAMS do the same I will THANK them.UNLIKE "OTHER TEAMS" THEY HAVE PROVEN THAT ALL THEIR WORK ISNT FAKE.

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-02-06
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

You are too easy!

Team ICE is full of crap! You want to know why they release this garbage? Because it's all USELESS!!! Everything they claim to be giving to the world CAN'T BE USED. They know that thus they have no problem giving it to you.

They're not mine and choose to believe these words or not, I don't care. Figure it out for yourself:

It's quite obvious that neither ICE nor their followers have a clue what they are doing, a 30-second look at their ELF2SELF will tell anyone educated this...

The ELF2SELF converter is taking a static SELF and simply appending it with the ELF users supply. Aside from the fact that the method is a joke, they could have analyzed the Warhawk Development Self that was released. There are sha1 hashes that need to be computated, file sizes in the SELF header, relocation of the SHT table among other things.

That is a constant in any SELF file, encrypted or not. Then just to append a random SELF with ELF data and call it a tool? ROFLMAO! :D

The so called "Example SELF" file they included is a 100% match of the 2006 Sony otheros.self as well, that once again ICE claimed as their own work and it simply can't be replicated with their tool.

In regards to the rehashed network holes, as mentioned above they are garbage/useless. The data still needs to be encrypted and signed by Sony, and data off a game disc won't work with the ELF2SELF for the simple fact that their tool doesn't do this.

Therefore, the possiblilty of any code loading would only be it loading the original "NPUA.SELF", which as mentioned above is a (C) Sony signed signed file... no additional code will run- period.

Let them post all the useless apps, videos, etc they wish as it will give their clueless followers something to occupy their time. :)

Non-stop hacking the ps3 these days, lol. I wonder if we'll see something good soon. I'm hoping for an ISO loader, but NOT before 2009 (I don't want the ps3 to cry, but still, the x360 and wii already have their hacking done and it's not that bad for them lol)

In case any of you know, the internal hard drive is formatted to FAT32, which has a file size limit of 2 Gigs, So have fun trying to compress a 20 gig file to 2 gigs and still be playable

FAT32 supports up to 4 Gb's ;)

like to add that it's FAT16 which supports only 2 Gb's. And FAT12 supports up to 32 Mb's ;)

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-02-06
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

How many times are you going to post the same thing? Since we're repeating ourselves:

FAT32 has a 4GB limit. Either way, I've copied 6GB video files to the PS3 and played them just fine.

In addition to that, there is no reason to play ISO games on the PS3. You would copy the entire disk "file for file" to the PS3 then play it if it became a problem.

Hell, all I want is the ability to mess around with MY OWN save files!!!! What's next? Microsoft encrypts your My Documents folder so you can never do anything with your files expect use MS Office!?!?!? This is BS!
   by scarface_tha_second - 2008-02-06
» ISO loader would be nice.

But it'd be cool to see what other things people will come up with. Playing PS3 games through ISO loading seems like it would be too complicated anyway. But when PSP got hacked there was a lot of nice apps, imagine what people could do if the PS3 was the same. It's as if everybody that owned a PS3 and knew how to develop programs could work on it as opposed to just people who are working for Sony.

   Re: Justingraziano - 2008-02-06
 » ISO Loader alternative

Actually there's a much better way to load games then using an ISO Loader but it is difficult so you might not like it. Here it is: First, quit your job at McDonalds and get a real job, after you get your first paycheck cash it then take the money and goto a local game store (if you need the definition for store look on dictionary.com). At the store take the game that you want off the shelf and, here comes the hard part, walk to the cashier and hand it to them. Although it may be very tempting, DO NOT run out the door with the game before going over to the cashier. After the casier has rang up the game it's time for the extremely hard part. Take the wallet out of your pants pocket and... omg... here comes the part you hate the most... hand the cashier the money that the game costs then, leave the store with the game. When you get home remove the game disk from it's box and place it in your PS3's slot loading Blu-Ray drive then, leave the room and enter your bathroom. Now is the time to start whining about the money you just spent on a video game. After about an hour go back into the room with the PS3 and play the game. You have successfully purchased (if you need the definition for purchased look on dictionary.com) a video game. Give yourself a pat on the back and be proud! You did something is concidered impossible by millions of people worldwide.

How long has your anus been a property of multi-million dollar corporation? I could swear the last time I checked it was legal to ***** around with my console and backup my own damn *****ing games.

   Re: Justingraziano - 2008-02-06
 » RE

Yea, I'm sure someone's gonna go through the process of buying a Blu-Ray burner, downloading, then burning a 10GB or more game just to have a backup. You make me sick you disgusting piece of human filth. YOUR the reason the PS3 isn't selling so good. It's YOUR fault. Cause your too damn cheap and poor to PURCHASE, BUY, LEGALLY GET, a friggin video game.

   Re: Justingraziano - 2008-02-06
 » RE 2

Also, YOUR the reason Sony(R) blocks homebrew.

   Re: ISOHaven - 2008-02-06
 » WTF!?!?!?!?!

@scarface
Depending on your local laws, it's a Federal CRIME to circumvent digital copy protection. You can backup whatever you want as long as you don't circumvent digital copy protection.

@Justingraziano
No one is the reason the PS3 isn't selling so good....remember....it's not hacked yet!!!!
