Tiscali subscribers having problems with PSN - Image 1Telecommunications company Tiscali provides internet services in Italy, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, and more importantly, UK. Now, some PlayStation 3 (PS3) users report that they get disconnected from the PlayStation Network (PSN) during peak periods.

The consumers informed the ISP about it and Tiscali admitted that there's indeed a problem. According to the company, the connection usually works without any issue whatsoever. But during peak times, they try to allocate the limited bandwidth equally among users through a technique known as traffic shaping.

"We are however unable to commit any timescale as when the migration will complete. Please note that this is not a major issue and is only affecting a handful of customers," said Tiscali in a statement. The company added as well that the problem is not isolated with PS3 users as its MSN service has also been affected.

They made sure, however, that their engineers are currently trying to work out a solution. Well, some ISP uses the same technique and there are no reports about users being disconnected yet. We do hope that they find a fix soon especially now that the PSN figures are looking good.

I just asked Tiscali for my MAC code.. im fed up of them.. they are the worst service provider ever.. that name doesnt even fit them.. they should be called crap shoveler.. cos thats more like it. theyr service is apaling..
i signed up for 8 megabit connection.. i get... (drumroll) 26k (actually slower than 56k modem).

Im a Software Tester for an insurance company and im pretty good at setting up networks! so its not fault of my own. My father is a Symantec Engineer too and its nothing on my side of things! Proven!

Bottom Line! DONT GO NEAR TISCALI! NOT EVEN WITH A STICK!

Yeah, get VirginMedia! You get put on hold for 40 minutes when you call, your connection will fail at least 3 times a week and you wil not get the speed you pay for.

Oh, and the cable modems break.

I email tiscali about the problem,syaing how furious i was at the whole thing,as i work all day and want to come and play ps3,but they are stopping me. The worst part is you cant sign in at all over the weekend!!! I got an email back from tiscali telling to delete my cookies and reste my router!! TISCALI IM NOT A RETARD,i knows its you doing this and no amount of cookies deleted will sort,STOP BEING SO TIGHT AND BUY MORE BANDWIDTH AND GIVE THE USERS WHAT THEY PAY FOR!!!
Also i was told my a man hundreds of miles away on their helpling to play after midnight,im sorry but that does not wash tiscali,get it sorted and ffs get some UK BASED CALL CENTERS!!!
