Call of Duty 3

Call of Duty 3
is the next installment in the Call of Duty video game series published by Activision. The Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Wii versions are being developed by Treyarch Studios. The latest installment boasts of realistic movements of bodies and objects. The game centers around the Normandy Breakout where players get to play as American, British and for the first time, Canadian and Polish soldiers which are replacing the Russian campaign.

Jeuxactu had a chat with the folks of Treyarch and more info about the game is revealed.

Built on the same model as its predecessor, Call of Duty 3 introduces a new hand to hand combat system in which enemy soldiers attempt to rip the weapon out of the player's hands. The online play will now allow 24 players to play at once, a big leap from the 8 players capacity of Xbox 360's Call of Duty 2. The Wii version will exploit the console's unique controller to aim and do battle gestures. The gameplay also immerses the players on the environment setting of the battle of Normandy in the location of Saint-Lo, Normandy, France during the World War II. Explosions serve as backdrop to heroic situations supported by a patriotic music that makes you think you're watching Saving Private Ryan all over again.

Meticulous work was done even on the tiniest detail such as the grass and the foliages that render a true experience of the World War II. As such, even the direction of the wind needs to be taken into consideration by the players when using the smoke grenade. Behavior of soldiers also improves as they are subjected to harsh conditions of the war.

With these new improvements, plus the seamless narrative and breathtaking action, we wouldn't be surprised if Call of Duty 3 becomes a big hit to loyal fans of the series, as well as gamers who clamor for more realism in war games.

Not to sound like a wet blanket. But this doesnt say anything about it being Wii online Enabled. There were Rumors before that it would not be, Which this would toatally suck. Im really hoping its just a Rumor and Wii can be playing it Online in no time.

 » 8 Players on Xbox 360

While the PC version may suport 32, the 360 version only supports 8 (which was still suprisingly fun) and CoD 3 will support 24 players for the 360, dunno the number for PC. Just to clear up the confusion

 » Why

in the world would you want to play a 16 vs 16 game anyway? At least, why on a console with mic enabled, it's not bad on PC (since most of the people don't talk). I can't hear myself think in an 8 vs 8 game on Halo 2, but twice that many people?
