MOney matters - Image 1Well, some people have it better than others. In the programming world at least, it would seem that programmers in America get a hefty chunk more in terms of pay than their European counterparts.

Games Industry reports that, according to the Game Developer Salary Report: 2004 - 2007, game programmers earn 33% less in Europe than in America. Furthermore, if you're looking to get into the games industry itself, the best place to sign up would be in the business and legal sectors, which net workers an average of 53,000 Euros (US$ 70,000) yearly.

The worst place in the games industry to work? Well, it seems the gopher job for the games industry lies in Quality Assurance, which earns approximately half the amount. Still, if there's ever a place you wanted to get free games, it would probably be a great place to start, at the very least.

 » There's more to a job than $

How do they countries jobs rank in terms of benefits, time off, office conditions. There are a lot of things that make a great job. The amount you get paid to do it is important, but still only one piece to really being happy at work.

Not in investment banking! I get £85,000 + 23 days off a year + 20-30% annual bonus. I think that compares pretty favourably to what people can get in the US.

Oh, and £425 for a PS3 is peanuts! Stop saying "it's the most expensive PS3 in the world" as money virtually grows on trees in this part of the world. And you act surprised when the PS3 sells out here? We find that funny over here.

Do all Americans live in trailor parks or something? They seem to be the only ones obsessed with price all the time.

With all the choices out there, people are just looking for a good deal. I personally think the PS3 is an excellent deal and would purchase it if were $1000. With the availability of internet these days, so many people come on here and comment including children. Trailer parks are far and few between here in the U.S. You should visit sometime and see for yourself.

However all I see on the net is how some American believes that because their modded Vette can apparently hang with a Ferrari it's inherently better overall than a Ferrari and all people who buy a Ferrari are retards. That kind of attitude is all over the net from that part of the world so much that it allows a person to get an overall impression. It's not the search for value I dislike it's the criticism of those who have different ways of measuring value which I don't like. Granted a lot of people are children and only levelling criticisms because it's an item they can't afford so they are trying to justify their position with themselves, but ultimately all those nonsense if coming from your backyard :)

 » True But...

I personally see the same thing coming from all parts of the world. Many sites I go to people from many countries complain about many things and argue what is better. Just like here in the U.S. people can't understand why others outside the U.S criticize us for the way we think even though that is a small percentage of public opinion and/or actions.

» PS3 has NOT sold out

The PS3 has NOT sold out anywhere, the only system that is doing that is the WII so stop claiming otherwise.. In Japan its sales are terrible and in the USA it is almost last in sales including handhelds etc...
