The Atari Jaguar is the best console evar! Everybody knows it!
I made a list of the games I have beaten and noticed I am almost RELIGIOUSLY Nintendo! The only places I have branched out are with Konami and Capcom. Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill are my favorite non-nintendo series. What other series do you reccomend I branch to?
Don't let me get started ok, but the simple fact is: the DS is like so powerful and like it's got a grip of exclusives and then there is Micr$oft who even forces you to bring you own screen just play their overpriced stupid games! Those guys are so out get you to spend more; did I mention they are EVIL? Everyone knows how great the DS is and how it's going to be around for like more times longer than than 360. Plus you can touch it, play massive online multiplayer games like Mario Kart and Metroid Prime Hunters. God I'm getting myself excited... I think I better get to a Mickey D's to play online. Thanks for the article about me, I can't wait to pictochat all my friend codes! Nintendo 4 life!
Games are made to be played...Consoles are made to provide the games ... want my opinion? Well too bad your getting anyway.
Play the games and not the Console...Fanboys have NO idea what they are missing...
although, it's fair enough if you can't afford more than one - but then there's no excuse to bash the opposition either.
i hate fanboys, talking sh#t and not even trying something new.
i understand that you cant afford them, but before you spend your cash, you should test them out.
and be biased, you people make me sick
Thats pretty funny, and so accurate. I fall into the Hardcore gamer category. I have given a fair shake to every console over the years, and owned just about all of them.
More recently though, I have gotten tired of playing the kiddie games that dominate the nintendo consoles, and sony is losing me with their business practices alone.
Microsoft is the only one providing a great console with great games and great service right now, so I would be more then happy to call myself an xbox fanboy for this new generation.
This still dosen't change the fact that the PSP really blows
Hardcore here. I don't really care what console it's on. If it looks good to me, I'm gunna play it. Also, the PSP owns you #8. Quit being a homo.
Just that i thinking of getting the PSP as well. The only problem is that I have little confidence in Sony built quality and have witness a couple of broken UMD cover when I hang around games shop. Any way to avoid this pitfall?
They should go out of business.
That is all.
a sure fire way to prevent umd breakage is to refrain from sitting on them.. it is also recommended to keep large animals from chewing on them..other then that they are pretty sturdy.. i havent had one break yet.
Even though I try to stay as informed as I can about the different consoles and the games coming out for them, I haev to admit to fanboy tendencies. I try to supress them when I see other fanboys spouting off, but they are there. But I think I differ from alot of fanboys in the respect that I fully admit to the weaknesses in my favorite console, and the strengths of others. Most bad fanboys I know will never admit to anything that's bad about their console of choice.
You one up me on this one... But there will be others!
I hate these kind of arguments. So what if there are fanboys. It's not a bad thing per se.
I personally can't grasp how someone can willingly buy three consoles + all the necessary accessories + games for all three... I mean , what a waste of money. In life , you have to make choices... Video games is one of those industries where , due to petty commercial reasons , you cannot play every game. It's not gamer's fault if there is exclusive titles on all consoles, it the companies who make the consoles.
I'll gladly choose the console that appeals to me the most and use the money I save on buying games for it. Last thing I want is having three 500$ paperweights taking space in my living room. And quite frankly, It's not like anyone dies by not playing the other console's games. Sure , you might miss a few excellent games , but are they really worth investing 500$+ bucks on gear to play them ? I don't think so...
And yes , I would like it if my console of choice succeeds and ends up decimating the competition , not because I'm a fanboy , but because , in the end , I want my Console to get the biggest percentage of the games in development , and this happens when one console is dramatically more popular than the others. If everyone embraces PS3 , Revolution and Xbox 360 are going to get ports and very few exclusives , so I won't miss out on many games.
i sort of am, i have ps1, ps2, psp etc, and only gamecube otherwise... but i have looked into the xbox, i saw them cheap on ebay (like 30 quid if you're lucky) and thought 'wow, there must be some games on tehre worth playing'
so i looked it up, went to a million sites (literally one million) and found that the 'top ten' xbox games were not my bag.
i cannot, for the life of me, figure out why people enjoy playing fps games with a control pad, it's clunky and slow and there's no headshotting skillz to speak of. this is why i have fps games on pc (i'm very priviledged to have all that i want)... so that's halo/halo2 out the window...
i have found i enjoy sony and nintendo offerings far more than microsoft. does it make me a fanboy if i simply don't want an xbox cos i don't like the games? (mind you i don't think much of xbox360 either, at least right now)
if anything i'm an rpg fanboy.
"does it make me a fanboy if i simply don't want an xbox cos i don't like the games?"
No that makes you an informed buyer who took the time to see if the Xbox had any games you wanted to play. You become a fanboy if you come to qj.net and say stupid things like "teh X-sux is ghey, teh Playstation 3 OMG will pwnt the x-blah". So no, you're not a fanboy. :)
the psps is a great system by itself, it's just been marred with some greedy developers and has been churning out alot of crappy ports, now the ds isn't free of this charge either, but they have a few better ports so it's alright. I've never broken any part of my psp and if your going to get one i would recommend getting one now, for theres a couple of games you should definetly pick up and there's quite a few amazing titles coming out down the line. Also there adding the ps1 emulator, so ff7-9 portably has me particularly excited.
How the f*** can you tell whether someone is the fanboy or not? Hardcore gamers platy more than one system? Since when?
Ever since Atari vs. Nintendo there were system wars, the more hardcore you are, the more you defend your beloved system.
I'm playing games since 1984 - and I like SONY more than M$ or Nintendo, even though I own all three current-gen consoles, I enjoy PS2 game more than the others (probably because they are simply BETTER).
"oh noez.... you said that this game is worse, you fanboi ;("
That's getting lame, everyone can have opinions, and just saying that something is better or worse doesn't make you a fanboy.
FORZA is better than GT4 - OMG I'm a M$ fanboy :( .
DoA is much worse than TEKKEN and VF - oh no I am SONY fanboy :( .
PS2 has more quality games than other systems - oh no I'm a total fanboy ;(;(;(;(;( .
Seriosuly, you kids are too gay (and that's a correct word), people are allowed to bahs things they think are bad - it doesn't make them worse than you.
Being a 'fanboy' isn't about liking games on 1 particular system over another. It's about HATING other systems over one particular system. It's about dismissing every other system over the one you own.
Fanboys are idiots, but I really don't care about them. At the end of the day, it's them that lose out, not me.
UMD's are useless. They are tomorrow's betamax.
I AM SO BADASS. I HAVE EVERY ATARI AND SEGA SYSTEM EVER MADE! NES, SNES, N64, GAMECUBE, 3D0, XBOX, XBOX 360, PS1, PS2, PSP, ALL THE GAMEBOYS, AND ALMOST EVERY GAME EVER MADE FOR EACH SYSTEM. I SIT AROUND PLAYING VIDEO GAMES ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Oh yea well I've played 5,000 online matches (Fight Night Round 3) So beat that loser!!!
I always try to wait about a year~2 years after the consoles are out to figure out which one is the best by for me.
I had an Atari at 2, a NES at 5, a SNES as soon as it came out, and then a N64. My parents were the ones bying this obviously, I was a child. They stuck to what they thought was the easy to go with brand. I hated N64... And bought a Playstation finally after seeing Symphony of the Night. Then I got a PS2 (after watchining everything). Actually to this day I'd still get an Xbox for the games I like on it. (and that you can mod it haha).
Anyway I just bought a DS after not really seeing anything I wanted on my roomates PSPs. Again, if games come out for somerthing, I'm all over it. GAMES. Not CONSOLES.
#11!!!
i was a huge PS2 fanboy back in the day, when my PS2 broke 3 times i lied and said it was the same one to all my friends who asked about the durability of the console. then one chirstmas i got an xbox, played the games and realized that i was playing them more and more often and not having to buy new games to become satisfied.
sure games on the PS2 are fun, but when you beat them, you are just done with them. you gotta go get a new one. so renting is highly recommended.
the xbox has more party-like games, that have high replay value.
i guess eventually i became an xbox fanboy. but then i got a GC, and loved that too..
but THEN rather than saying "OMG PS SUX" i realized that the playstation was a console, and the console was defined by the games, and it was really SONY that was doing a crappy job at it. so the Playstation is a fine console, its just Sony blowing chunks of crap.
i still try to remain non-baised, but i just dont trust sony anymore.
Closest thing to fanboy I am is antiSony, and I own a PSP anyway.
I'm more of a hardcore gamer, but, lacking infinite funds, I do *not* own more than one console of any generation. I, in fact, missed the SNES/Genesis generation, going right from SEGA Master System to N64 to Xbox to 360 (first handheld is the PSP), although I did play my cousin's Genesis probably more than any one of the other systems save the N64.
And whatever you think, I think that for me, in every generation of console (except the missing one), I got the best one (although the 360 remains to be seen).
you guys are arguing over which consoles you have owned. LAME!
Great Article (made me think)
I don't think I can be considered a fanboy because as I feel that Sony is superior in the video game industry I have reeasons to back that up.
I agree the in the current generation xbox has the best graphics, multimedia features, and online services but I still feel like Sony controls the market because it has a much wider selection of games. The xbox appeals more to action gamers and the revolution appeals more to kids due to many 'E' rated games. The playstation 2 has games that appeal to a larger audience. I own a xbox, but I seldom play it.
Sony dominated the market with the origional playstation and although it has dropped off somewhat with the PS2 I feel the the PS3 will bring Sony back to the top, not only in games but also in graphics and multimedia features.
I may be a Metal Gear Solid fanboy though (lol) because I really feel that it is the only game that combines excellent gameplay with a HUGE storyline. Very thoughtful series. Any game series that can develop confusion among its fans about what is really meant by the game is a game to be highly respected. The storyline is so complex that I still don't fully understand it all. Check out www.metalgearsolid.org
If anybody can suggest a game that has a storyline that is just as complex and interesting please tell me I would like to try it out.

I'm a fanboy. I've owned every Nintendo system (including the variants like the GBP), every Sony system (including the variants like the PSOne) and the original XBox, and I've had quite a bit of time with the 360. Thanks to this, I've become an educated Sony fan and Microsoft hater. Any kind of game I've ever wanted to play, whether it be a strategy, an FPS, a scripted RPG, an MMO, GTA, racing, fighting, sports, you name it, Sony has given it to me, and with decent quality at that (generally speaking, of course). All Microsoft has given me is a shoddy console that tended to give out at random intervals, a VERY repetitive game selection (get Halo 2, Fable and Forza, you've got it all - Maybe Morrowind, too), and all with an over-abundance of glitches. Now, I haven't seen much improvement in any of those categories for the 360. All people are doing is waiting for Halo 3, Forza 2 and Fable 2, and buying total sh*t sports games in the meantime. I don't want to be part of that. Nintendo is showing it has potential with the DS, and, who knows, maybe the remote is actually a good idea. Sony still has to prove it can keep it going with the PS3, but, since they've shown their "worth" before, I'm willing to take the plunge and get a pre-order. Where am I going with this? Right. Nobody should be a fanboy until they've experienced all the possibilities. I've experienced all the best games for all the consoles, and this has led me to vehemently insult anyone who sings praises for the XBox, since it becomes clear they're either simple-minded buffoons, or they haven't even touched a PS2 or GC. Okay, maybe the GC, but that just means they've got a bit of the buffoon in them. Sony and Nintendo give quality - Microsoft does not. See the light!
Oh yeah well i like ice cream so beat that

Pledging loyalty to a particular video game console while spreading your dislike of other brands may very well be a sign that you’ve been bitten by the fanboy bug. If you suddenly flare up upon hearing less than positive ramblings about your most revered game console, and you start bashing other consoles in defense of your sacred gaming platform, then it’s time to admit - to yourself and others - that you've really got it bad.
System (NES). If the NES gave you the best gaming experience, no one and nothing can take that away from you. That being the case, you treat subsequent Nintendo consoles with the same level of reverence, and your willingness to overlook their shortcomings becomes understandable. Nintendo fanboys will embrace the Revolution even if it will not be as powerful as the Xbox 360 or the PS3. That's taking brand loyalty to the extreme.
Halo, being exclusive to the Xbox, plays a significant role in molding ordinary Xbox fans into full-fledged Xbox fanboys. Starting a love affair with a game involves the console as well. If you're happy with the relationship, why fool around?
