Gamespot's managed to get their hands on an early build of Epic Game's Unreal Tournament 2007. According to them the build they were shown was still unoptimized and required an NVIDIA quad SLI setup (4 Geforce 7800 GTX's running at once!!) just to run. This fact is both alarming and exciting, alarming because the next generation Unreal game was first shown at E3 almost a year ago running on PS3 devkit hardware, it was unoptimized then, and it's still unoptimized now? It's exciting because when the game was shown last year on the less powerful PS3 devkit, it was running at 48 frames per second, this gives us a rough comparison benchmark (admittedly very rough) as the game requires a quad SLi rig to get similar results.

The preview talks about the slight changes made to UT2k for the next generation such as the impressive new graphics, a new emphasis on aerial combat for certain gameplay types (onslaught), more realistic feeling environments, and the developers attempts to get rid of a HUD and instead display as much relevant info as possible via the game world (see Fight Night Round 3). We also learn that the red suited team members we've seen in a few screens are called the Twin Souls, while the yellow team led by Unreal Tournament veteran Lauren, will be called the Iron Guard.

For the PC bots out there they also mention that the game will run on average hardware of the time when it's released so you won't need to sell your soul to Milhouse for a quad SLI rig).
