Yoichi Wada - Image 1We love it when Square Enix always has something good lined up, but sometimes, healthy libraries may actually hurt. That much becomes apparent after Squeenix president Yoichi Wada stated that he is uncertain about letting the wildly anticipated Sony PlayStation 3 title Final Fantasy XIII loose this 2008 because of Dragon Quest IX's impending release.

In an interview with Nikkei Trendy, Wada said he is uncertain about dating Final Fantasy XIII's launch since putting it in line with another high-profile title such as the next numbered Dragon Quest in the same fiscal year can possibly hurt stocks.

From its scheduled 2007 release, Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS was moved to 2008. Just recently, Wada said the handheld RPG is nearly done. On the other hand, rumors of Final Fantasy XIII hitting shelves this year have been debunked not long ago.

Square Enix' RPG for the world, Last Remnant, was also brought up as another upcoming AAA title for both Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 that Square Enix has to introduce to the world along with the bigger names. It is interesting to think that Final Fantasy may be far into development than we think, and is only waiting for a release window that won't collide with other games.

Yoichi Wada went deeper into his other works, such as plans as the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) chairman. The interview with Nikkei Trendy is in Japanese, but if you understand the language, find it by clicking on the via link below.
