Warhawk to get stand alone retail SKU for US$ 40

Back in August, Warhawk was released in two versions. The first is in its DLC-format available on the PlayStation Network for US$ 39.99. The second option was to for US$ 59.99, but that's as a bundle that comes along with a bluetooth headset. Right now, it seems as if there's going to be a third option to be made available by the end of the month.

We first got whiff of it from Level Up's N'Gai Croal: Warhawk could be sold as a stand alone Blu-ray disc for US$ 39.99. Interestingly enough, online retail stores have been posting product pages of the stand alone Warhawk. We checked ourselves: Amazon says it gets released on October 31. Gamestop says it gets released October 10.

So why release a Blu-ray version? Well, it seems pretty obvious: it's all about consumer choice. The more options you have, the better, right? Level Up inquired the Sony rep about this, though. Was this indicative of some future trend that Sony might take? Will they be releasing those AAA titles as DLC and marked up retails bundles... and then follow it with a stand alone game disc SKU with a stripped price? The Sony spokesperson's reply, however, was that Sony had no new announcements regarding such strategy.

I will definitely purchase this. I didnt really want to download (I like having hard copies of things) and I didnt need the BT headset...so this is an excellent option.

why release a Blu-ray version?
because not everyone have a credit card or isn't an adult to have it and can't download it from the store

why release a Blu-ray stand alone version?
because there are so many people that have a blue tooth headset already

why release a download version?
for people like me that don't want to go to the store because don't have the time to do it and the alwas win because u can't trade what u buy in the store of course so is a secure buyer... in the blu-ray version u can trade it for another game or for cash and they lose to sell another new one for the used one that was previously buyed...

If you buy a disc, it's still worth money. You could sell it to someone else. You can put it in your dvd rack.

Frankly I think this is a smack in the face for anyone who bought the downloadable version. The download should of been cheaper than the retail version because it has no resale value.

for th consumer and the retailer but not for incognito if you sell it to another guy and he didn't buy a new and another copy of the gae... that was my point... another example is if you rent the game but never buy it... because if u don't like it the game u can trade it for cash and the retailers wants better to sell the used game becuse is more money for the retailer and not for sony... thats was my point... isn't 2 new games now.. is the same one...

I downloaded Warhawk from the PSN and wish I hadnt. You can only play the game on the account that you downloaded the game to. So I guess Sony will get another 39.99 out of me for being stupid. Needless to say I will never download another game that will be on disc.

I know how it's feel... at least they can let people with the same mac adress to play the game... not only the account you but it... if your ps3 is broken and u purchase another then let that mac adress to play it and forget the other one for x or y time.. like they did... this type of game is better in disc...

Plus if you download a game it takes up hard drive space you could have used for other stuff. I guess it isn't an issue for some people, but 20gb users it is.

In Australia dude, it is HALF PRICE to download it. And from what THIS ARTICLE is saying, it IS cheaper to download it in the US, too. HOW COULD YOU POSSIBLY NOT BE ABLE TO READ THAT. ITS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE. THE DOWNLOADABLE VERSION _IS_ CHEAPER THAN THE RETAIL VERSION YOU MORON.
