Wipeout HD - Image 1

We're very sure this will break a lot of hearts out there, but Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves has confirmed that the anticipated futuristic racer WipEout HD has been delayed. This, he says, is due to a technical hump that the devs are working on to overcome.

"There is a specific technical problem with WipEout that we have to solve. I can't go into details but it is a really, really tricky technical problem that no region has been able to solve at the moment," Reeves told Eurogamer in a press event in LA.

Nevertheless, Reeves said that there's still a good chance for the game to make it out of the studio and into the PlayStation Network before 2008 us dine. Whether he meant the fiscal year or the calendar year was not specified.

We suppose we have to find something else to get our high=speed fixes on for the moment. When WipEout HD finally comes out, though, it'll be time to rip through tracks at 60 frames a tick in full 1080p glory.
