Shuhei Yoshida - Image 1They're coming and Sony's confident. LittleBigPlanet of Media Molecule has been tagged by no less than Sony worldwide studio boss, Shuhei Yoshida, as the biggest PS3 game to hit store shelves this year.

And that's on a global scale, that's right. "History tells us how difficult it is for games developed in Europe or in the US to be successful in Japan, and with this generation we see Japanese consumer supporting more and more games coming from western Europe."

Looks like LittleBigPlanet really is meant to make its mark in gaming history. It's not only because it'll be the biggest game, but also because it will push the envelop with the way games are being developed, and how gamers play.

Continues Yoshida,

That really shows the way the whole industry will be heading. Giving power to the consumers to express their creativity by creating something that's fun for others to play. So we really want to make it a global success, including the Japanese market.

We'll see how big a splash it really will make when it does come out next month. Although we're not doubting there will be some major splashing to be had.

far as i know the PS3 has been doing better than some other console for the entire year.

   Re: chessboxer - 2008-09-02
 » yep

It has also sold better than the 360 but no one pays attention to that. The PS3 is less than 2 years old and has sold over 14.5 millions units worldwide.

I think this game is awesome! And this is an honest opinion from a 360 owner ;)

 » this is game's potential...

is locked up in how many services Sony offers along with it. Otherwise, it'll be one of those games where everyone agrees that it had so much potential, but it never got off the ground.

Sony has to be just as aggressive as they are with Warhawk. If they are, this will be the game that defines the PS3.

If not, consider them last place in the console war.

This has been on my mind for a while now: Does anyone know if this game will only be available on disc, or will there be a download option like Warhawk?

I always considered it to be a DL game, until I recently saw box-art for it. I suppose all the Hi-Def textures will soon add up!

I love being able to swap from game to game without getting up lol!

Super Stardust HD>Siren>Warhawk>COD4=Perfect

 » no download

There were rumors that it would be available to download from the PSN but I think this has been scrapped now. They are chucking so much content in the game that it might not be feasible to give a download option.

The game is still only using a single layer BD, but who really wants to download 10GB+ of data, or more importantly, how many people have bandwidth restrictions which only give them up to 5GB per month? Siren was large enough being over 9GB.

Cheers for the reply fella.

I have BT Business Unlimited, so the restrictions don't really apply to me.

Oh well, it would've been nice :o(

» This is the best Sony have to offer?

A game which is so innovative I've been playing a better version since 2005?
Please.
Yeah it looks ok, but its nothing original.
If this is the best that Sony have to offer this year, they better pull out the stops next year. At this rate the PS3 is going to sit and collect dust. If there's ever a game good enough to make me ever want one. MGS4 is not a good enough reason.
Not when most of the decent titles i can play on my pc.
PC>All.

   Re: trigger - 2008-09-02
 » according to leipzig

yes, it's the best the ps3 has to offer.

meanwhile the 360's best offer is mirrors edge, which is also available on the ps3. :p

now run along. go play sims on your pc or something.

» What about GTA and MGS4?

Excuse me? The biggest title this year? May I remind you that Grand Theft Auto IV has sold 6.293 MILLION COPIES ALREADY, and we have still not included August, September, October, November or December sales.

Then there?s MGS4, which probably will have sold a lot more than LBP by the end of this year.

Little Big Planet? Little Big Sales, I?d say.

   Re: KingPoubar - 2008-09-02
 » Excuse me?

May i remind you that Grand Theft Auto IV happens to be a multi format game therefore it is NOT a PS3 game, its a PS3/Xbox360/PC game.
How can paying £40 for MGS be justified when you have to pay a further £300 just to play ONE game. Pointless.

   Re: Henkibojj - 2008-09-03
 » All aboard the failboat!

@KingPoubar:

Sure, GTA IV is a multiformat game but the PC version is still not out yet so you can't count that. Split 6.293 millions in half (the sales figures are quite even) and you get 3 146 500 copies sold only for the PS3. I doubt that LBP will sell 3 146 500 copies in 2008, so you fail, sir.

And why the hell do you say MGS4 doesn't count because you have to buy a console to play it?! The same goes for the "pointless" Little Big Planet because you won't be able to play that without a console either. Again, you FAIL!
