We've got a new trailer on 2K Sports' up-and-coming gridiron sim All-Pro Football 2K8 which stars a hefty list of past NFL greats. This trailer is called "Game of Technique." Let's see why:

What was that line from that old family flick "Little Giants" again? Football is 80 percent mental and 20 percent physical or something like that. In any case, you'll want to use your wits to your full advantage in All-Pro Football 2K8. Reading play, weaving past scrimmages and making the right passes at the right time are all key to success. Fail and you'll probably get sacked by a 250-pound defensive lineman clear into next week.

It's pretty cool how 2K Sports found a work-around on EA's NFL monopoly. By bringing in hall-of-famers like O.J. Simpson, John Elway and many others, it attempts to create an entertaining title which can appeal to a wider age group. Will this strategy result in a fumble or a touchdown? We'll find out in a few months when it fields in for the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360.

A bit of double-edged news for gamers looking for some quality time passing the next-gen pigskin around. It seems that a price cut may be in the offing for the recently-released football title from Take-Two Interactive, All-Pro Football 2K8 (PS3, Xbox 360), probably some time after its biggest competitor, the Madden franchise, has let loose with its own next-gen salvo. The part of this news item that hits back? All-Pro Football 2K8 doing as good as Take-Two hopes it would have.

This news came from a conference call taken by Take-Two itself, with CEO and President Ben Feder manning the mouthpiece for the company. His statement, verbatim:

We're not terribly pleased and not disappointed. We're watching closely and are going to react proactively when Madden comes out. We know we're in a competition with them.

With Madden NFL 08 hustling its way into store shelves sooner than we think (August 11, mark your calendars), it's not that hard to try and guess just what these "proactive" measures Take-Two might be pulling out of its sleeves - with the most plausible one being a price cut. While this in itself is pretty good news for those of us looking to score a copy but have tight budgets to ascribe to, it's also bad news that a next-gen title has to slash its price tag so early in the game.

That said, who knows just what Take-Two is planning? We can only wonder. Updates as we get them!

The hunter is back, and he's out for blood - or at least, to tackle, throw or body-check any opposition who stands in his way. Yes, that's right, Singletary's taking care of business, and business is booming in this trailer video aptly titled Singletary hunts again.

In this video, we're treated to some of the more brutal-looking tackles in 2K Sports' All-Pro Football 2K8 (PS3, Xbox 360). One thing to note here is that the visuals are very sharp, with the animations smooth, lifelike, and very convincing. You can almost feel the bone-crushing impact with every tackle. Ouch, ouch, and more ouchies.

In 2005, Electronic Arts made an unprecedented move to acquire exclusive license rights to use NFL teams and players in a football video game, creating an electronic monopoly on America's most popular professional sports league and leaving competitors out of the stadium to fester.

The Madden franchise reigned unopposed since then but in a gambit of creativity and resourcefulness, rival 2K Sports of Take-Two Interactive surprised everyone by offering All-Pro Football 2K8 which may not have active teams and players in the roster but has the names of the sport's legends written all over it.

By acquiring rights to greats such as Troy Hudson, O.J. Simpson and Jerry Rice, All-Pro Football 2K8 was able to add that needed star power to make the offering attractive. This prompted EA CEO John Riccitielo to comment on the maneuver.

Riccitielo admits that Take-Two is the kind of competitor that "keeps them awake at night." He says "when you've got a competitor like Take-Two on the sports side, and they launch a football title using some of the industry legends, you want to make sure that ends up being a blip and is not repeatable, because we like to defend our franchises aggressively."

The EA CEO didn't elaborate on how they plan to derail the 2K threat. Whether it be by more restrictive licensing or direct market competition remains to be seen. Looks like this ballgame just got a little more exciting.

American football is not for the light-hearted. It's all about protecting your name, setting rules, and playing your game. All-Pro Football 2K8 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) is all about directing your team, detecting weaknesses, reviving competition, hardcore running and blitzing.

Here's another episode from All-Pro Football 2K8. The first two episodes tackled (excuse the pun) the return of Jerry Rice and the other legends to playing field. Now, it's all about Barry Sanders.

All-Pro Football 2K8 from 2K Sports will pit legends against legends. In this game, players will literally get to assemble their dream football team. In this episode, we have rapper Aceyalone supplying the trailer's soundtrack of sorts. We see Barry Sanders in his prime as running back. Makes you wonder how he seems so slippery, eh?

Anyway, check out the video. It might just convince you to get All-Pro Football 2K8 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) for yourself. Enjoy!

All-Pro Football 2K8 is now at Gold status for both the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the Sony PlayStation 3 game consoles and will ship as scheduled on the 17th of July, says maker 2K Sports.

The game is set to go right into the gridiron with authentic football mechanics that will give players all the abilities to dish out hard tackles and perfect passes depending on the style of the current superstars and past greats that they play as.

2K Sports is also touting graphics that will bring each athlete to a lifelike level all the while giving deep customization and gameplay options. Users can change team names and looks from headgear to uniforms and run plays like how a real coach would draw them up.

So, is All-Pro ready to take the fight right into Madden? We'll see this coming season. But for now, let's just chill and wait what each has to offer. We'll give you updates as soon as they both hit and go head to head.

  

Legends squeezed into one game is an interesting concept - a football fan's dream come true. In 2K Sports' All-Pro Football 2K8, that dream may be realized for most.

We've got two new trailers from the upcoming sports video game featuring two rappers (of considerable legend, as well). The first one is entitled Rice Returns, featuring Rakim. The video showcases the moves of football legend Jerry Rice during his prime. The second video features Chali 2na plus the play highlights and the players in All-Pro Football 2K8.

All-Pro Football 2K8 (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360), by the way, is still slated for release in July 16. That's still a few shuteyes away so might as well watch the videos to pass the time. Enjoy!

Football fans, here's another update for you. 2K Sports has just released the second trailer for their upcoming console (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) title, All-Pro Football 2K8.

The last time, you had to "spot the legend" as the trailer played. This time, you don't have to as the players are introduced and their famous moves showcased. All of them playing in the prime of their careers. We see quarterback Joe "The Cruiser" Montana, wide receiver Jerry Rice, running back Walter Payton, center and linebacker Dick Butkus, and defensive lineman William "The Refrigerator" Perry.
