Blazing Angels 2 screenshots: planes and locations - Image 1

Here are five new screenshots from the upcoming flight combat simulation game Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions. It's being developed by Ubisoft Romania and will be released on platforms Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. This title had had many release dates in the past and the last we heard, it will finally be available this September.

Anyway, these screenshots show some of the locations each player will be visiting in Blazing Angels 2. In this title, players gets to fight alongside an elite Allied Squadron and the mission is to stop the Nazis from creating weapons of mass destruction. Plot sounds like the game was inspired by recent events it's actually set during the WWII.

In terms of features, Blazing Angels 2 is host to many prototype planes that can be upgraded as the players progress in the game. Multiplayer component is also present, of course, with choices ranging from co-op, squad-based, free for all, and the new capture the flag mode.

Flamboyant aerial maneuvers, intense dogfighting and a climactic finish involving a catastrophic mid-air collision - it's all here, with all the delicious next-gen trimmings in this video update of Ubisoft's Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions (PC, PS3, Xbox 360). We give you a sneak peek at what's new with the game that lets you become a fly in the Third Reich's ointment - or at least, one that's quite against its plans of world domination.

In this gameplay video, we get to see the player going through some basic aerial maneuvers, as well as flying down low through a city that's impeccably detailed. It's to note that the graphics here are very smooth, and sound utterly convincing, down to the strain that your engine makes as you gun the throttle.

After a few moments of diving, circling and typical flyboy behavior, the poop hits the fan as you're suddenly attack - and the frenzied dogfights begin. Flight simulator purists will love the fact that there's no missile lock-on nonsense here - it's just plain aiming with your targeting reticle and firing your plane's guns, with the hope that one of your rounds will make it to your bogey's gas tank. And such satisfaction when it does! BOOM!

Embed's below, you know what to do. Enjoy!

More on our last update of Ubisoft's Blazing Angels: Secret Missions; the game will now be officially released on the PS3 as well as the Xbox 360.

Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions - Image 1

Highlights of the PS3 version include the use of the Sixaxis and a multiplayer mode for racing other planes.  There will be three multiplayer modes available - Capture the Flag, Assault and Epic Battles - and will feature the use of power-ups. Two nice additional functions to the multiplayer feature: players can join in a multiplayer session already in progress, and players can also leave a session without affecting the game for others. The game will also feature a cooperative mode.

While the first game focused more on real historical battles, Secret Missions will be more cinematic and set in exotic locations. The developers improved greatly on graphics to make the game feel more like a Hollywood film. As the title suggests, you get to do covert missions around the world and will be doing it using an unusual prototype aircraft from the WWII era. Players will be taking the role of an American pilot with his own covert elite squad whose mission is to destroy the Third Reich's plans on making the ultimate doomsday weapon.

The game developers down at Ubisoft sounds like they had fun playing around with the planes players will be using, making it more James Bond-ish  featuring an arsenal of cool gadgets and effects like blinding opponents from behind and trailing noxious smoke. The story revolves around the enemy trying to build the ultimate doomsday weapon so enemies will also get to have their own gadgets resulting from those experiments. All the planes that the player were inspired from real life ones, even if they were only prototypes so it should be historically interesting as well.

The developers, acting on the suggestions of their players, have improved on the diversity of the missions (never a dull moment, they promise,) the user interface, the wingman system and the weapon system.  There will be an option to play the game in simulation mode or inside the cockpit which utilizes a more realistic control system.  The developers also worked to make the game enjoyable both to hardcore gamers and those new to the genre of the game, and maybe even the virgin gamer.

Secret Missions is expected to be out this September for the Xbox 360. No word yet on the date for PS3, though.

Ubisoft decided to delay the release of its Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions of WWII (PS3, 360, PC) to Summer 2007. It was originally scheduled to ship last Spring. However, it seems that PlayStation 3 owners will get something good out of this as the company announced new features exclusive to the platform.

The said exclusive content, according to Ubisoft, is made possible because of the power and the features of Sony's console. Here are the added goodness:
  • Innovative use of the SIXAXIS: With four alternative control configurations, Blazing Angels will take full advantage of the motion sensor function/tilt feature. Players can easily maneuver the plane just by moving the SIXAXIS wireless controller. Arcade and Simulator modes are included, for both classic and motion-sensitive control.
  • All new Multiplayer Racing: Fly in a racing circuit while trying to navigate the natural terrain, avoid urban obstacles, and other landmarks, and pull ahead of your opponents to be the first to cross the finish line.
Secret Missions of WWII is the sequel to squadron-based flight combat game Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII. In the new game, players take on the role of the leader of undercover and elite squad of pilots Operation Wildcard. This quad was created by the U.S. government to sabotage and destroy Third Reich's evil plans to create a weapon of mass destruction.

Never mind if Ubisoft's Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions (PC, Xbox 360, PS3) had its flight delayed to August 31 instead of the previously announced spring release. We've got a whole lot of goodies in store for you today, and hopefully, this will more than make up for that little push back in schedule.

So, what do we have for you today? As promised, a lot. We have screenshots and a couple of videos from the Ubidays 07. But before that, let's get to know Blazing Angels 2 just a little bit more. Blazing Angels: Secret Missions - Image 1

James Orry of UK gaming news site PRO-G reports that Ubisoft's Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions, has unfortunately been set for a delay of sorts. It's supposed spring release is now a more specific August 31.

In this iteration of the franchise, you play the leader of Operation Wildcard, an undercover and elite squad of pilots secretly created by the American government. Your mission is to stop the Nazis from creating a weapon of mass destruction. In the game itself, you get access to spy missions using some extremely hush-hush prototype aircraft, so your life as a spy isn't all that bad.

Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions is to be released for the Xbox 360, PC, and PS3. The US is set to see the game a few days earlier as the North American release date is August 28.
