Yep folks, it's official. Nippon Icchi Software's Disgaea 3 is headed for Sony PlayStation 3 owners in the U.S., by way of NIS America's publishing efforts. The turn-based strategy RPG, like the Japanese version, will carry a different story, cast of memorable characters, and innovations to the game's current feature set. A rundown will be available at the full story. |

Sony PlayStation 3 owners in Japan are set to receive Nippon Ichi's Disgaea 3 in January of 2008, heralding the debut of the popular strategy RPG franchise on a next-generation platform. We've caught some new Disgaea 3 screenshots for you and they look pretty sweet. Those who have had a casual brush with Nippon Ichi games may point out that Disgaea 3's graphics aren't too far along from what we've seen in Disgaea 2, and to some extent they may be right. But if you ask those who've been immersed in the NIS universe before, they'll tell you that there are some nice improvements such as high-resolution backgrounds among other subtle touches. Still, we all know that Nippon Ichi titles have always been gameplay-oriented and that's a tradition that Disgaea 3 is looking ready to continue proudly. Most of the familiar battle and customization elements that fans have come to love will still be there, but new additions have been announced and we know that we'll be seeing two-level tosses, demon morphing and attribute customization soon enough. Prepare to lose some sleep over 100+ gameplay hours by the time Disgaea 3 hits American shores. More Disgaea 3 screenshots follow at the full article! |

Ah, Disgaea. It seems almost impossible to rid oneself of the image of a stack of prinnies laying the beatdown on one unsuspecting zombie, and so it seems that we have to once again get even more strange images into our heads with the release of Nippon Ichi's Disgaea 3 promotional video. Can anyone say, "Giant Monster Blackboards?"
You got that right. In addition to a giant monster blackboard rampaging through the screen, this promo video also introduces some new wrinkles into the art of stacking up allies on top of one another, as there are more special moves you can do in that position, which you will see in the video. If that isn't enough for you, there's also one special move where one of the new main characters runs around the world in order to perform a super powerful attack. There's that zany Disgaea humor for you, we suppose. In any case, you don't need a Japanese translator to tell you that Disgaea 3 will be one big tactical slobber-knocker when it comes out for the PS3. Prepare to meet Mao, Raspberyl and Almaz in their upcoming adventures in Demon High School when Disgaea 3 comes out. In the meantime, enjoy the video! |

Nippon Ichi's much successful turn-based strategy RPG series is making its way to next gen with Disgaea 3 for the Sony PlayStation 3. With its September 21 release later this year, plenty of details about the game should surface in the next few days. Just recently, the official website went up.Unfortunately, the website only contains a single page at the moment. From what we can gather, there are no plans yet what limited first edition packages will contain. Disgaea 3 also doesn't have a CERO (equivalent of ESRB in Japan) rating as of now, but previous titles received T for Teen in the U.S. Known for dark humor and quirky dialogues, Disgaea 3 seems like it'll follow the tradition of Nippon Ichi video games. According to previous magazine scans, the protagonist this time will be an otaku named Almaz. If the term "otaku" doesn't ring a bell, let's just say our hero will probably more hardcore than any geek you know. To find the official website, just head over the Read link below. |

There's been a few wisps of smoke but no fire in sight as far as Disgaea 3
for the Sony PlayStation 3 is concerned. This time though we've got
some hard evidence that will eventually materialize because of these
new scans that Moetron found in the Dengeki Playstation Magazine.
As you can see, the wily bunch is back for more tactical action in the Netherworld. Disgaea 3's graphics doesn't seem like the typical next-gen graphics but quite frankly, who cares? For Nippon Ichi titles, the deep gameplay and the demonic hilarity have always been the selling points and that tradition would probably continue. So, will Overlord Baal still be the last secret boss? What's new in the item world? We're hoping to see more of Lord Zetta and Vyers again. Them and more prinnies and Prism Rangers too! What do you think? More Disgaea 3 scans after the jump! |

Craving more Disgaea, possibly rendered in sweet HD? Now there's a reason for you to get your hopes up: Nippon Ichi has finally announced Disgaea 3 slated for the PlayStation 3. It's currently a work-in-progress, as we can see on the screenshots above - but if you take a closer look, you can clearly see that the screenshots are dated 2008. Did these get sent back from the future? The official announcement sent out by Nippon Ichi states that Disgaea 3 is due to be released in Japan this winter, with a price tag of 7,140 yen, or US$ 59. There's still no announcement about the gameplay, storyline, or characters, but they have announced it as a simulation RPG. As to what they actually mean by that, we will see in the future. More updates as they come! |
