Again, more of the kindness of strangers who read the magazines for us. And if EGM can review Wii launch titles, why can't Famitsu review PS3 launch titles? And let's thank the strangers, more specifically wotter of E-mpire Forums and Jonnyram of NeoGAF, who revealed what Famitsu thought of each launch title:

It's one of the ideas being tossed around before, taking advantage of the 20/60GB HDD in the PS3 to cut loading times. Sony confirmed during Gamers' Day in San Francisco that the launch title Genji 2 (Genji: Days of the Blade) would use the HDD to cut loading times, as reported by MTV News.
As detailed by MTV News, all you have to do is wait three minutes for the game to upload 4GB of game data from itself (or the Blu-Ray disk, at least) to the PS3 HDD. Sony says that this will cut down game loading times from fifteen seconds to four seconds. People may have different tolerances for load times for different games (personally, fifteen seconds is not too bad for me), but what's definitely been demoed before is the HDD-load option there, and it's available for developers to take advantage of, if they want to. Okay, so fifteen seconds or four seconds later, what do you get? In the absence of news about Genji 2, the sequel to the PS2 game Genji from Yoshiki Okamoto's Game Republic studio, feast your eyes on these new screenshots. (There's really not much to go on with, seeing that no other info about the game has been released yet.) The cutscenes are looking really good (we love the one where there's snow falling around the two characters), and there are also some wallpapers ready to be pasted onto your desktops.
The detail in these images is pretty impressive. Character detail looks pretty good too, as seen from the in-game caps. Textures used in the cutscenes are realistic enough and have a nice depth and weight to them. The characters' hairstyles look a bit... stringy though, with the exception of the character in the first screencap. And while we're on the subject, that character's a girl, right?

Ah, Sunday! Glorious, glorious Sunday! E3 2006 has come and gone, but we've still got plenty of stuff to share with you guys! Aside from the many hands-on impressions that QJ.NET's E3 reporters will be writing up all week long, we've got a whole host of random imagery from E3, as well as many gameplay videos from hot-topic games like Mobile Suit Gundam, Gran Turismo HD, and Warhawk - as well as a nice little vid of the PS3 in 360-degree splendor. You can catch the vids at the bottom of this article, but for now - the pics, in no particular order or clever arrangement!
And for those of you clamoring for PSP demos - all the stations at E3 (as seen in the first picture) were setup for "Game Sharing" - so sadly, there is no way to share these demos with you, our fine readers. But there may be one or two trinkets that were scored at E3 that may be up for grabs in the near future, but you'll hear more about that later. Until then, keep watching QJ.NET for more hands on impressions from E3, and take a look at these gameplay video clips! Gameplay Videos: [Age of Conan] [Genji 2] [Gran Turismo HD] [Mobile Suit Gundam] [Heavenly Sword] [Motorstorm] [Resistance - Fall of Man] [Virtua Tennis 3] [WarDevil] [Warhawk] [PS3 Display] |
