Atari President Phil Harrison wants to prove Activision wrong for dropping Ghostbusters like a hot potato when it merged with Blizzard, saying he wants to turn the video game into a US$ 100 million franchise. So much for Atari's goal to be "just an online company," and I couldn't be happier for them. Go Harrison!

Veteran actor Sigourney Weaver was recently interviewed by MTV Games to see whether she would reprise her roles in the video game adaptations of Aliens and Ghostbusters.

Tetsuya Mizuguchi (of Lumines, Rez fame) just loves our news blog so much that he's decided to name his upcoming game after our site! (Or... not.) Whatever the case, Atari's recent press conference had former Sony bigwig Phil Harrison handle the proceedings. Some of the biggest news they've announced in the event involves Tetsuya Mizuguchi's latest rhythm game and the upcoming Ghostbusters multi-platform title's release window.

Eight games were left rolling with the tumbleweeds after Activision Blizzard dropped them to make way for its merger.

Now we can all heave a collective sigh of relief for at least two of them. Atari has picked up the publishing rights to Ghostbusters and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.

Word on the street is that The Ghostbusters video game was picked up by Atari, but still won't be released till next year. How many more months before I can toast the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man? Gah, so sad.

It was a bit of a letdown when Activision Blizzard didn't include Ghostbusters: the video game (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, PC) in its list of releases for the remainder of 2008. Vivendi, however, indicated that all is not lost as they will be exploring other options on how to release it.
