NASCAR 08 - Image 1We all know that one of the most underrated elements of a good racing game is a soundtrack that reflects its attitude. NASCAR 08 by EA Sports is no exception to that as it announces a killer lineup of country and rock bands to set the tone for a great time at the track.

Led by powerhouse band Velvet revolver and complemented by names such as Airbourne, country greats Brooks & Dunn, Big & Rich and a lot more, this racing sim aims to get inside your head to keep the pace of your driving in stride with the rhythm and beat.

EA Sports explains that the mix of hard rock and country music is founded on the fact that NASCAR  league rose from its roots in the countrysides and then came to power in the bustling metros around America. This way, the soundtrack reaches out to all the ages and demographics in its user base, which the firm hopes will generate massive appeal.

EA's NASCAR game franchise has always delivered great racing simulators with great physics, licensing and graphics that offer tremendous realism to both gearheads and casual gamers. NASCAR 08 is looking to do more of the same when it rolls out soon for the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360.

More laps, more cars, and certainly more crashes in this video interview that's all about the first next-gen title in its series, EA Sports' NASCAR 08. We get you the skinny on what's to expect with the racing license that's all about speed and making it to the finish line in one piece.

This being the very first next-gen entry in the series, there's a whole slew of brand-spanking new bells and whistles that's bound to make any fan excited. Obviously, graphics have been ramped up to an entirely new level. The smoke effects, the particle effects, the sparks that fly when you grind your car against the railings - everything's been improved. One thing to watch out for is the real-time sunset system, where you can actually see the sky transition from a bright blue morning to a purple dusk, and the lights of the track itself turning on so that you know where you're going.

Players wondering about whether NASCAR 08's going to have an online mode, rejoice - there's going to be one, and it allows up to 12 players to participate in the race, a considerable increase from last-gen's four-player races. Car customization has also reached a new high, with every little change you make actually able to subtly change how your car drives. Sweet!

NASCAR 08 will be rolling into  PS3 and Xbox 360 store shelves this July 23rd, just before the Indianapolis race. To tide you over before then, here's the video interview! Enjoy.

When you get behind the wheel of NASCAR '08 from EA Sports, oh, there will be a few new things to consider.

First, the Car of Tomorrow is going to make an appearance in this game - just as the Car of Tomorrow is making its debut in NASCAR. Second, if this is going to be the first time you're stepping into the driver's seat of a stock car, as the video will show, there will be features designed to hold your hand through the lap.

Of course third are the multiplayer features - NASCAR '08 makes its next-gen debut here and now at game release. Aside from online racing, players will be able to trade setups with other players. Most likely since everyone will be tweaking the Car of Tomorrow like there's no Tomorrow.

Now, GameTrailers pegs this video for the Xbox 360 (and the gameplay video indicates the same), but as this game will also appear on the PS3, it's entirely conceivable that the same core multiplayer features will be present for PlayStation Network as it will be for Xbox Live (dump the debates about the difference between the two: it's just about the game, understand?).

Nascar 08 website - Image 1

Electronic Arts has announced that the NASCAR 08 website has finally gone live. NASCAR 08 (PS2, PS3, Xbox 360) is the eleventh iteration of EA's NASCAR video game series and is currently being developed by EA Tiburon. The game is scheduled for release on July 23.

Some of the game's features include over 40 tuning options for players' cars and updated graphics and damage modelling. There's also a nifty day-to-night transition feature as well as a Chase mode where players complete various tasks like drafting, pitting properly, and passing to earn licenses for cars for specific tracks.

The website will offer NASCAR 08-related downloads and behind-the-scenes blogs and videos with the game's production crew. Right now, though, all the website has are a few wallpaper downloads and a press release about the game's cover. You can check it out by clicking on the "read" link below.

Racing enthusiasts huddle over! The first official trailer for Electronic Arts' NASCAR 08 has gone live.

We're sure a lot of people are curious as to how this video game is shaping up visually and gameplay-wise. It's just you, the oval track, and a couple of dozen other cars who want that shiny trophy. In the trailer, we see some game features like the cars, car tuning, and telemetry (for a more technical run). Of course, it wouldn't be NASCAR without the car crashes and the cars banging on the walls of the track.

Anyway, we'll quit the babble and let you watch. Excuse the blurry YouTube video though, but we're sure you pretty much get the picture on gameplay. Stay tuned for more info on NASCAR 08 (Xbox 360, PS2, and PlayStation 3).

Tony Stewart will the cover boy of NASCAR 08 - Image 1

Electronic Arts (EA) is so busy nowadays. Just yesterday, it announced Boogie, a new and rather funky video game for the Nintendo Wii. The new title the first of what could turn into a whole new franchise, but despite this good beginning, it seems that EA still can't really move away from game franchises. In fact, it just added NASCAR 08 to its roster of games, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 (PS3), and PlayStation 2 (PS2).

The new title is under development with EA Tiburon and will be hitting retail stores this Summer. Would-be players of NASCAR 08 will begin as a rookie driver on the circuit, while every race that they win will award players with experience that will allow them to modify their car's handling with over 40 tuning options. Furthermore, as players progress within the game, they will be able to gain rights to sign contracts and licenses with owners and big stars, all while unlocking top performing legendary cars in the process.

Speaking of legendary, Tony Stewart will be the cover boy of NASCAR 08. He currently drives the No. 20 Home Depot Chevrolet for Joe Gibbs Racing.

EA was a little quiet with regards to the new game's details, but it did say that players' car setups can be shared with the online gaming community via Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network (PSN). The game also has multiplayer support and can support races of up to 16 players in one go. The game is set, obviously, in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series championship.
