If any of you have played Keita Takahashi's innovative Katamari Damacy series from Namco Bandai, then you have to admit that nothing gets as offbeat as a game where you have to roll up things into a giant ball of assorted objects. However, if you think that's as unique as he'll ever get to designing games then you've probably haven't seen the newest brainchild he's planning on the PlayStation 3.
In a recent software demonstration during the GameCity 2007 event for his new game, Nobi Nobi Boy, shows off the limits of how far Takahashi's mind can stretch when it comes to making a new game. The title itself is a play on Japanese words much like Katamari was. Nobi means "to stretch" and pretty much sums up the new these of the upcoming game. The video doesn't show much except the capabilities of the game physics. The new taffy-like people in Nobi Nobi Boy take the place of the Prince and his cousins. Although the exact objective of the game wasn't revealed, Nobi Nobi Boy shows a lot of potential, seeing as how the character you control can be manipulated in such a unique manner with his stretchy body. Takahashi mentioned that the game will make use of a special controller consisting of a tube with two brightly-colored ends to reflect the flexible nature of the characters. This was the first time an actual software demo was previewed since the game was first introduced by Takahashi during the PlayStation Premiere event last September. In any case, Nobi Nobi Boy has the makings of a classic puzzle-action game that hooked so many gamers. No release date has been announced yet, but we'll keep our eyes out for more news on this game. In the meantime, enjoy the video we have on Nobi Nobi Boy. |

Done with showing the world how he rolls - and he sure rolled pretty well - Katamari creator Keita Takahashi just unveiled a PlayStation 3 game with the same level of strangeness similar to his hit rolling series. The game was revealed in Sony's PlayStation Premiere event held in Tokyo on July 17. Titled Nobi Nobi Boy, Bandai Namco's new PS3 video game features a character who can stretch his body at will. There's still no word about actual gameplay details and the video game's storyline, but we do have some interesting screens to tide you over for the time being. Updates as we get them! |
