Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan is betting on Electronic Arts' Jack Black starrer, Brutal Legend (PS3, Xbox 360) to be this holiday's sleeper hit. He was quick to qualify, however, that it's not gonna be that much of a smash hit, but a hit, nonetheless.

Analysts have released their predictions for the September US sales period ahead of the official numbers from NPD. According to both Michael Pachter and Jesse Divnich, all points indicate a superb showing for the Sony PS3.

This sounds grim. Speakers at the upcoming London Games Conference are forecasting that in three years' time, retail would have been outstripped by digital distribution. Not only that, but 40% of the companies in the games industry will be caught unprepared for this shift in consumer choice.

Tekken 6 looks awesome enough in the assets Namco Bandai has released so far, but for HD connoisseurs, there's still the burning question of whether or not the game's console versions really are high def. Pixel counters from Eurogamer's Digital Foundry are saying that it's not quite there yet.

Yesterday, the BBC's consumer rights show Watchdog looked into allegations of systematic failure issues plaguing launch versions of the PS3 console. More analysts are expecting a Grand Theft Auto V, apparently, as they up their Take-Two target from US$ 15million from US$ 11 million. Anthony Gikas of Piper Jaffray is one such analyst, and here he explains why they are finding Take-Two to be even more profitable by Fiscal Year 2011.

Enterbrain (Famitsu owner) President Hirokazu Hamamura is making a bold - but not entirely improbable - forecast that Final Fantasy XIII could move another half a million PS3s in Japan. This claim was made at today's Foreign Correspondent's Club of Japan.
