Not long after we've seen him rule the streets once again in "Fast and Furious," hardcore action star and gamer-at-heart Vin Diesel is gonna go back behind the wheel to star in the Wheelman movie, based on the PS3 and Xbox 360 game from Ubisoft. Details coming right up.

If you still haven't gotten your fill of the Vin Diesel vehicle Wheelman (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) then here's some good news for you. Ubisoft has released a total of six new missions for the game. Five of the missions are bundled together in a premium pack priced at 400 MS Points (US$ 5) a pop while the sixth is free.

It's one thing when Sony and Microsoft throw mud at each other and call each other names, it's quite another when actual game developers throw down and join the rumble. Shaun Himmerick, Executive Producer for Wheelman, remarks that programming for the PS3 was "a huge pain in the ass," while the Xbox 360 is like "a dumb PC."

Ouch and ouch.

Quick update on The Wheelman (PS3, Xbox 360, PC): reports have come in saying the game has slipped from its planned February 16 launch date. That's the bad news. The good news is that there'll be a demo. Details after the jump.

Despite all the gloom and doom surrounding Midway Games, here's one thing that can cast a bright spot of cheery sunshine. The Wheelman (PS3, Xbox 360, PC), starring Vin Diesel, won't be out till February of next year, but if this cinematic trailer is indication, it's certainly got a lot going for it.

According to feedback from a Midway focus testing group, the release and subsequent popularity of GTA 4 has changed the expectation gamers have for open-world driving games from arcade-styled to a more realistic model. This directly impacts Midway's Wheelman (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), which faces a few changes as a result.

Midway confirmed today that Wheelman (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) will be shipping out globally on February 16, 2009. The game should available in stores by the 20th. If you're into open-world driving games, you might want to try this one out. Why? Because Vin Diesel wants you to.

After the recent series of shakedowns happening in Midway, word has been going around that the company may have to shut down its UK based studio Newcastle, subsequently putting development of its upcoming action shooter - The Wheelman (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) - on hold.
