Set to make its way to the Xbox360 and PS3 is the Artoon-developed thriller game Vampire's Rain (also known simply as "Rain") where, as we've mentioned earlier, will have players literally grappling in the dark trying to make out which ones in the crowd are blood-thirsty fiends and which are just plain... pale-skinned. (Or something.)
Anyhoo, players will get to take on the role of special operative John Lloyd as you try to wipeout them vampires (operative word is TRY) lurking in suburban L.A. And since this is essentially a vampire-hunting game, expect a lot of dark elements to come bleeding through your screens. If you wanna get a preview of just how dark and taunting this game will be, here's the Nightwalker Stalking gameplay vid courtesy of GameTrailers to give you that much needed quick-see of the game. Enjoy! If the video doesn't work, just go through the "Via" link below and head on over to GameTrailers. |

"In the centuries past, I was both the hunter and the hunted. Always wondering as to the reason of my very existence. I think I'll have that answer this day...I hate rain." Kind of poetic, don't you think? Honestly, we weren't expecting this much lyrical questioning from the movie clip of Vampire's Rain, found in the official site that just got launched, but the visuals and sound effects were nice nonetheless. In the official site, you'll get to know further about the game's world, character, game system, movie, screenshots, campaign, downloads, and more. Clicking each tab doesn't take long to load and you immediately get access to the particular info you must browse, such as the Game System's mission. The World's stage shows a steady scroll-down of the entire Vampire's Rain milieu. We really think the movie that you can play on your WM Player is cool (not just because it's in English). However, the rest of the site's text is written in Japanese. Vampire's Rain, a.k.a. Rain, is where special operative John Lloyd undertakes the mission of wiping out the vampires lurking in suburban L.A. The game is still under development for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, so there's still little we know but a few heads-up from the Artoon and AQ Interactive. It's scheduled for release though, on January 2007. For the meantime, the site is a welcoming place for you to get some visuals on the game, so visit it via the link below. Have fun! |

The TGS 2006 official trailer for Artoon's Vampire's Rain shows a bit more than its E3 version. For one thing, we actually get to see more gameplay bits instead of just being flooded with CG cut-scenes. Based on what we have in the video, the game looks like a weird amalgamation of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, Splinter Cell, and Saint's Row, only this time you're up against vampires with powers instead of normal thugs with guns. Note that I only said Saint's Row because I assume, emphasis on assume, that it's a free roaming environment (if it isn't please correct me). Hey, there was word before that full-scale maps of LA will be used for the game and that a gracious amount of freedom will be given to the players. It could be that they've just got really really big maps for the stages. The title of the game is very apt as the creators have said that rain will be a very important element during gameplay. It only rains every now and then in LA (the area where the game is set), and unlucky for you, rain is the only natural element (that we know of so far) that damages the vampires in the game. The reports on the playable demo sort of say that the game feels very lukewarm. Not hot, but not cold either. Anyway it's still a demo so it's far too early to pass judgement on the game. Click on the video below and see for yourself. |

Heading for the Xbox 360 and PS3, AQ Interactive's spooky stealth game is causing heads to turn (and necks to be punctured). Vampire's Rain is going back to the roots of making these vampires scary once again, as opposed to how movies seem to make them cool. Either way, no one seems to be griping. The game is looking strangely familiar, but the whole concept of creating fear in the player is making our necks itch in anticipation. There was a playable demo in the TGS 2006, and people have been wishy-washy about it. The controls are fine, the cut-scenes weren't really that "wow," the weapons that come along in the demo are quite limited. Yes. It's a very "Goldilocks" game: not too hot, not too cold. It's juuust right. But see. It's only the demo. Surely, they still have time to fix things up before its winter release. And if they do, the game might actually sneak up from behind with a surprising entrance. One thing everyone's been talking about though is that it might actually be more than just "killing vampires ala Sam Fisher" style. Because despite all the military spec-ops feel to it, there's still that nagging feeling about a mysterious little girl towards the end of the demo. Kind of like a Cheryl-moment from Silent Hill (PSone). Splash in the whole concept of occultism and things that go bump in the night - plus competitive multiplayer! - and you have the makings of a great game. |

Souce:IGN ![]() One of the first titles announced by newcomer Japanese publisher AQ Interactive at its product unveiling press conference earlier this week was Vampire's Rain, a horror-themed action-adventure being developed by Artoon (Blinx, Blue Dragon) and produced by Naoto Oshima (Sonic the Hedgehog). The latest issue of Famitsu has an update on the title, which is in development both for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The concept for Vampire's Rain is fear, Oshima reveals to the magazine. As we mentioned in our original story on the game, Oshima believes Vampires have, in recent years, gone from being scary to being cool. He hopes to return them to their original form, as strong, frightening creatures. He points out some characteristics of vampires: they're faster than humans, they cannot be defeated with ordinary weapons, and they cannot be discerned from other people. Vampire's Rain will allow players to experience this type of enemy. As the setting for the game, Artoon has chosen Los Angeles, and with good reason. According to Oshima, Artoon went with an LA setting because it rains only a few times a year in the city. Rain is an important element in Vampire's Rain, as the game's vampires are weakened by the downpour. Players will want to go out on missions during the rain. Players will have a lot of freedom to move around the in-game version of LA in this title. Artoon plans on creating a full map, allowing players to go everywhere, including onto roofs and up emergency stairwells. The game will have strong story elements, so you'll be placed into the world as part of the storyline, rather than just making up your own storyline as you go. Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game will offer network play. While details on the game's Online mode are scarce, it appears that players will get to play as vampires and do terrible, evil, ungodly, evil, terrible things to people. Sounds like fun! Both versions are due for Japanese release in the Winter of 2006. Development is currently at the 40% stage. |
