Unfortunately, you'll be missing out on two basketball game titles this
year from Electronic Arts. It's just been confirmed - via EA Sports
president Peter Moore, no less - that the NBA Street (Xbox 360, PS3, PSP) series is on "official hiatus". Meanwhile, NBA Ballers (Xbox 360, PS3) seem to be also in a bit of a jam. |

Today we're going to look at some issues in an Electronic Arts release. The game in question is the PS3 version of NBA Street Homecourt and the issues involved are the Online mode and some output problems with both 1080p and 1080i. First, the Online mode. Quite a few players who bought NBA Street Homecourt found out that the Online mode for the game's PS3 version simply didn't work. Apparently, it had only been brought to the attention of EA's tech support when the game launched in stores and has now been fixed. A moderator at the EA Sports forums, brainpowered35, said that specifics haven't been pinpointed yet, but EA believes that "somewhere in the migration process, a server switch was missed." On to the video output problem. A few players have complained that the game won't run in 1080p and 1080i. As of now, there has still been no word from EA regarding this issue. Ashbong, the same guy who brought this to our attention, says that the problem may lie in the game's programming itself. He's already exchanged his copy of the game for another and the problem still persists. Keep checking back here on QJ for more updates. If you're experiencing problems with the game, click on the "via" link below to head on over to the EA Sports forums. Thanks to Ashbong for the heads up! |

Ready for some street ballin'? As announced earlier this week, NBA Street: Homecourt is available on retail shelves today. Time to do the happy dance! It's Electronic Arts' latest installment in the NBA Street franchise, taking you aaaaall the way home...court. A couple of interesting features in this game are its new control scheme for dunks and the Create-a-Player system which lets you mix and match various skill sets from different players. But what all of you would probably be excited for is the Trick Remixer system that allows you to show-off. Even though the game gets released today, no one has gotten confirmation if the happy dance is part of the Trick Remixer system. |

PS3 owners have a choice between a fighting game, a racing game, and a sports game this week. For the first genre, we have Def Jam: Icon, a rollicking madcap journey through the happy lands of... Well, no, actually it's a style and rhythm-infused no-holds-barred street fight featuring some of the biggest names in hip-hop. Def Jam: Icon is a game where players have to claw their way to music moguldom, going from rags to riches and leaving broken bodies on the way. Word. Next up is the racing game. Those who feel the need for speed should definitely check out MotorStorm, and if you haven't heard what the game is yet then clearly you haven't been paying attention. This game's got some nasty visceral off-road racing, plunging players into a frenzied environment covered in grit, mud and petrol. No limits, no restrictions, no rules. Just try and get to the finish line before anybody else. If you reach it alive, that's a bonus. Finally we come to the venerable sports game genre. The entry for the PS3 this week is NBA Street: Homecourt, the next-gen entry in Electronic Arts' arcade-style street ball game. NBA Street: Homecourt still allows you to throw down and go to town on others like any other game in the franchise, but its focus is all about basketball giving hope to the streets that the sport is known in. Mostly, though, it's all about giving your opponent a schooling in the fine art of videogame basketball. All of the aforementioned titles will be hitting PS3s on March 6. This here is an entirely different battlefield. Oh, it's war, alright. But not like the usual run-and-gun action that you'd normally expect. There's no blood shed here, for one. But it could be just as torturing, especially when you don't deliver on the hardcourt.
Yup, this is basketball. And this is street. A lot of pushing, shoving, trash talk, and psych intimidation. All that's just part of the game. Remember, what's important is for you to get some hoops. That, or lose this war. But you don't want that, do you? Here's what Rip Hamilton's got to say about that. Check out the trailer below and learn of his experiences at Nash Park. NBA Street Homecourt already scored points yesterday on the Xbox 360, while the ball's yet to roll for the PS3 on March 6 for the U.S., and on March 23 for Europe. |

All-Star Weekend is over (anybody else shoot Coke out of their noses when Shaq did the crossover and the fadeaway?), but that doesn't mean the mad b-ball action's gone for good. The race is still on for the playoffs, and with NBA Street Homecourt out in stores now, you can do some shaking and baking of your own all in the comfort of your favorite chair. Check out the screenshots below for a peek at the game.

Is it just us or are the screenshots above for Electronic Arts' NBA Street Homecourt (PS3 and 360)
look a bit awkward? Oh well, we guess that is what exactly these new
batch of goodies and the game itself stand for: our basketball idols
started out just like any sports-loving person out there. They were once kids and had awkward moments. More screenshots after the jump! Buy: [NBA Street Homecourt (Xbox 360)] Buy: [NBA Street Homecourt (PS3)] |

NBA Street Homecourt by EA Sports is not just about the game, it's about roots and looking back at your hometown homecourt.
Well - mush aside - these two videos lined up are both for Carmelo Anthony and both sporting the rustic old look of NBA Street Homecourt videos. One featuring Cloverdale, with the four-leaf clover. The other one is Carmelo Anthony's Street Ball Moment, a montage of pics. (*sigh*) We'll have to wait a couple more weeks for this title to hit the shelves. In the meantime, enjoy! |

Everybody has hometown memories. Where they grew up, went to school, and played their very first basketball game. The pros are no different and NBA Street Homecourt will showcase where the ballers came from. Here's an inside look the the courts. Venice Beach - It's the basketball court to the stars in Los Angeles, CA. Magic Johnson and Kobe Bryant frequent this court for pickup games. In game, here is where you'll meet Baron Davis and Jason Kidd. Cloverdale - It's the pride of Baltimore, MD and homecourt of Carmelo Anthony. It spawned another great - Sam Cassel, along with many of the disbanded Baltimore Bullets. In game, this is where you play your first NBA game against Anthony, Cassel and Jaun Dixon. Ash Park - Coatesville, PA has Ash Park, which served as the training field for no less than Rip Hamilton. He trained there with his mentor, Ricky Hicks and renovated the park and the court itself. In game, this is where the first Homecourt Tourney happens. Defending this court would be imports from Philly Kobe Bryant and Rasheed Wallace. Rupert Bell Rec - Located in Winston-Salem, NC, Rupert Bell Rec is home to Chris Paul. This is also where the second Homecourt Tournament takes place. The GOAT - At the heart of Manhattan lies the GOAT (New York, NY) slathered in funky blue and green paint. Rafer Alston regularly plays there. In game, the best the East Coast can offer converge there. Ron Artest, Allen Iverson, and Stephon Marbury. 'Nuff said. Franklin Park - West side Chicago, IL has Franklin Park with signs of the Chicago Bulls plastered on the walls. Kevin Garnett can give you a tour. In game, Kevin Garnett and Lebron James defend their homecourt. See the other courts and some screens after the jump! |
