Japanese site ITmedia has posted some suspected images of the PS3's XMB today in a PS3 preview. We don't usually like to post speculations here at QJ but aside from looking very interesting, these images looks pretty authentic, too. It's the perfect follow-up to the PS3 online game information that was leaked yesterday. Besides, it will be our first look at the menu options after the E3 video and high-res images of the PS3 XMB.

These screenshots show an array of options, support for multiple users, a Flash/Java enabled web browser like the one in the PSP, and support for 11 languages. Now a lot of the images may seem pretty irrelevant because they show a lot of Japanese writing but we have compiled the best ones here for you to sink your teeth into. A lot of these images look like a scaled-up version of the PSP's XMB with a lot more options and better graphics to boot.

PS3 XMB - Image 1

In the PS3 web browser options is a shopping bag that serves as link to the PlayStation store. As you can faintly see, the web browser sub-menu uses the same "WWW" icon as the PSP to start the web browser, although by coupling this image and the PSP interface image (below) we cannot see a LocationFree player.

PS3 XMB - Image 2

Here is a screenshot showing the PS3's photo viewer, which again mirrors the PSP's photo viewer. Here though, the folder images are a little different, resembling folders as you would see them on a PC, which makes sense as the PS3 comes with either a 20GB or 60GB hard drive...just like a high-powered PC!

This image above shows the PS3's memory stick reading option. There is the PS2 adaptor option featuring a memory stick and a '+' symbol.

PS3 XMB - Image 4

Here is another shot which clearly shows the web browser menu. One can also see the web browser (WWW symbol) and the highly-anticipated PS3 to PSP connection (PSP icon).

The option you can see in the image above is the one that we are most interested in. According to Babelfish, it translates to 'Install other system'. Speculations regarding this have been rife and some say that this may be useful for installing another Operating System. This is where the Yellow Dog Linux could come in, which has support for the upcoming PS3. Whatever the outcome, with the Ps3's November 17th launch fast approaching, there'll be much more information on the way so stay tuned to QJ.net!

You have posted alot of rumours, but we'll let it all slide. Second, didn't we see the XMB menu when a PS3 magazine had a PS3 to play with? Remember the really dirty one?

"Here though, the folder images are a little different, resembling folders as you would see them on a PC, which makes sense as the PS3 comes with either a 20GB or 60GB hard drive... just like a high-powered PC!"

Holy crap I laughed my ass off when I read that! That has has to be one of the dumbest things I've read on here... oh wait.

Back on topic, these are probably the first images ive seen of the PS3 using a normal TV, where they're showing scart connections and so on. Looks alright, seems to be equally as easy to use as the 360 dashboard, which is good.

"...just like a high-powered PC!" LMFAO!

» Er... I think you all forgot something

If you havent taken account of the PSP Interface, as the person said in The PSM Video the background is almost the same as the PSP when the time changes it changes color skeme and what not, ( Sorry excuse my english some words im unable to write it correctly) But yea, Theres a month where the psp has a Black background or iM wrong it might be just an image aka background file. Still this probaly is what this interface is showing, but instead of the background color changeing also do the Icon's Which is really cool though. But probaly they dont change, but has a transparency level in them Icon images. Hm probaly eh? but well thats my thoughs lol.
Bring it on FLAMERZ!
