keeping its promiseDespite numerous criticisms on Sony's ability to meet the shipment targets for their newly-launched PS3, the company is set on keeping its target of shipping 2 million units by the end of December and six million by the end of March next year.

Says Sony President Ryoji Chubachi, "It is true that it took us sometime to bring the PS3 to mass production as blue laser availability worked as a bottleneck, but production has reached a certain level and judging from that level [the numbers] are within our reach."

Meeting the projected numbers of units isn't the only thing they're keeping their eyes on. They also intend to hit the 5% operating profit margin mark for the year starting next year. With the way people have responded so far to the PS3, we don't doubt that Sony just might be able to pull this one of. And of course, the March launch of the console in Europe is sure to give some plus points too.

For the European launch they may have up to 500 consoles. PS3 will probably win in Japan, but they don't stand a chance in Europe. I think Europeans are pretty pissed $ony sued Lik Sang out of business because they could import sony products cheaper. I wonder how much sony will charge for a 60GB in Europe. $800?

1) dont be such a sarcastic tw@t, Sony are going to have alot more than 500 consoles, try growing a brain, and a mature one at that
b) Its being touted at £425 or less, so around $600 for the 60gd version. Know your facts before posting
c)Your telling me every European used lik-sang? or even knew what lik-sang was. If so, why is PS2 still outselling everything except the Wii

OWNED!

More common slander eh?

Nice post Daz btw

I think most people by now have gotten over the whole Lik Sang thing except people like you.

Saying 500 consoles and $800 where do you even get these numbers? You like to say your just a smart unbiased consumer, but with everything you post your for from it.

Like he said if people truely hated Sony they wouldn't still be buying PS2s like crazy both in the US and Europe.

If I say something like that, it's an exaggeration. Taiwan did get only 500 consoles though. Game systems are much more expensive in Europe.

It's ok to pretend to be joking, but since we can't hear the connotation of the sentence it really makes it hard. Especially when you could easily see this as just a rant. Hence why the lol and :P are used.

If this goes through, and is not just another rumor, then all the SONY haters can start shutting up. 5% is a lot of money.

I'm gonna buy me some SONY stock.
