Sony targets 13M PS3 unit sales, 50B yen PSN revenue for FY09

Sony has lofty goals for this fiscal year. Banking on the recent success of the PS3 Slim and the round of PS3 price cuts, Sony executive vice president Kaz Hirai has revealed that they plan to hit 13 million PS3s sold worldwide in FY09. They also expect the PlayStation Network to pull in revenues roughly thrice the profits they made last year. More after the jump.

Final Fantasy XIII rated by ESRB

It's not as much of a shocker as, say, Cactuar being already taken, but it's just as much of a news. ESRB has finally come out with their rating for Final Fantasy XIII (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360). Like with the other iterations of the franchise, XIII has been tagged with a T for Teen rating.

FFXIII scans: Sorry girls, Cactuar's taken

The guys at Final Fantasy XIII.net got another scan from Shonen Jump, showing landscapes here and monster enemies there. It's getting a bit old, really. But on the lighter side of things, the scans did reveal how Cactuar would look in Final Fantasy XIII, which is...exactly the same. Don't be dissin' the same old look, it seems to be working for our thousand-needled friend - scans also reveal that Cactuar now has a lady friend.

A lot of eyes were on Sony at the Media Investor Conference quite recently, where the company revealed their plans of world domination increasing profit in 2010. The interwebs got an unpleasant jolt of "WTF?!" yesterday when they spotted a line that read "new revenue stream from subscription" under PSN in the Sony presentation. SCE head Kaz Hirai quickly moves to soothe the angry mob, saying that the current PlayStation Network services will remain free.

I'm sure I'm not the only one curious about what exactly Alexander is. Sometimes, he's a castle, sometimes a machine, sometimes he's like a statue. For Final Fantasy XIII, the big boy's a mecha. New screens and info popped up again, featuring the Esper in action, plus some Chocobo-riding, and the new Crystarium system.
