Hannibal - Image 1Big movies sell games. They may not necessarily be good games, but they sell. Some have chosen to avoid the genre altogether, choosing to stop buying video games based on movies. It spares them of potential heartache, but there are always exceptions to the rule.

Which of course begs the question: What movies have come and gone without getting themselves a video game?

PS3 and Xbox 360 on sale at UK - Image 1WH Smith and Play.com of UK have already slashed their prices for the PlayStation 3, only two weeks after the launch. From UKŁ 424.99 (around US$ 840), you can now get your Sony next-gen from the said retailers for UKŁ 399.99 (roughly US$ 790). While WH Smith's offer is good only until April 19, Play.com seems to keep it running for more days to come. Also, Play.com adds to your shopping cart an HDMI cable and a Blu-ray copy of Adam Sandler's Click for the same price.

Apart from this, Play.com will also be expanding their sale to the Core Xbox 360, selling it at UKŁ 149.99 (US$ 295) starting tomorrow, Good Friday. Meanwhile, the Premium Xbox 360 price gets cut from UKŁ 279.99 (US$ 550) to UKŁ 249.99 (US$ 495). The stocks, however, will be extremely limited, and the promo period only until April 10.

MMHSHero gives away PS3 - community gives it back. We got some good stories all the way form Manchester, New Hampshire. First up is Memorial High School senior Nathan Burditt. He camped out for 34 hours to buy a Sony PS3, then he gave the PS3 to be the prize in a fund-raising raffle for the Hudon family.

The Hudons have two kids going to Memorial High School; Stephanie Hudon, a freshman, has bone cancer in her right arm (it has spread to her lungs), and Kevin Hudon, a senior, has Hodgkin's lymphoma (a kind of cancer of the lymph nodes).

When the raffle took place, the winner was Nathan Burditt. Apparently, many people put Nathan Burditt's name on their raffle tickets, probably to reward the local hero for his effort.

You see, decent people still exist.

A group of seventh graders raised US$ 800. All told, US$ 21,000 have been raised for the family.

Adam Sandler also gave the family a PS3 (with games), signed DVDs, jerseys, and an autographed "Longest Yard" poster.

In a time when so much crime and stupid bullshit has been done in the name of the PS3, selfishness, and greed, it's great to see that we as a people can still show common decency and use the PS3 to do some real good in real human lives.

P.S.: We've heard that Nathan Burditt isn't sure if he'll keep the PS3. Rumor is he'll put it up on eBay to raise even more money for the Hudon family.

Click will be their first outing for the Blu-rayA fifty-gigabyte Blu-ray disc. That's pretty much the equivalent of something GINORMOUS in the movie and videogame industry, and its first outing into the consumer world of Blu-ray lovers will be Adam Sandler's "Click," aptly enough.

Sony recently confirmed the news of this 50 GB version of the Blu-ray format by announcing the first three titles in their line-up of movies. The first movie they'll be releasing is "Click," which will be out on October 10. Next is "Black Hawk Down," which will hit store shelves on November 14. "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" will be the third title they'll have out, and will be showing up for movie buffs to pick up on December 12.

The three titles will be packed with bonus features, such as deleted scenes, director's commentaries and, in the case of "Talladega Nights," Ricky and Cal's commercials and public service announcements. While that does put a lot of bang for your movie-loving buck, we can't help but wonder. Four 50 GB Blu-ray discs can play a standard-definition version (at 23 hours running time per disc) of the 87-hour movie, "Cure for Insomnia." They could have gotten an entire legendary movie in as their starting release! Oh well. Check your local movie shop when these Blu-ray movies come out.

adam sandlerAdam Sandler, star of various movies such as "The Longest Yard" and "Click" announced that he will donate 400 PlayStation consoles to Israel. Whether those would be PSOnes, PS2s or pre-ordered PS3s, we haven't got a clue.

However, we're quite sure that Ehud Danoch, consul general of Israel in LA, met with various actors, producers and directors to discuss current Israeli issues: such as the damage incurred by the country, as well as "its position on the current cease-fire and threats posed by Hezbollah and other regional forces."

And Sandler's response? A whopping 400 PlayStations for Israelis. He and Danoch signed a pledge at Sony Studios regarding the said donation "where he was joined by members of his own family and several dozen studio employees."

It's a good thing that people are ready to lend a hand, not only by giving basic necessities, but providing a means of entertainment for those affected by the war.
