For this offering of our weekly recap, we see a resurgence of all sorts in the gaming industry. Finally we see a PS3 kicking ass in the sales charts, finally we see another big homebrew breakthrough for the PSP, and finally, it looks like things are definitely looking up for the videogame world in general. It is certainly looking like it's gonna be a happy holidays we're having this year.

Another classic from console generations past will once again get a breath of life in the new hardware. Gameloft is now hard at work in bringing Earthworm Jim out of the ground and back in the surface, freshened up big time with an HD overhaul. We've got more details about our favorite worm's comeback, so stick around for the goods.

Earthworm Jim is getting ready for another adventure with Princess What's-Her-Name thanks to a deal between Gameloft and Interplay that has cleared the way for the former to develop, distribute, and publish an Earthworm Jim game for PSN, Xbox Live, WiiWare, and mobile platforms.

It may not have the same hoopla as E3 had, but the GamesCom sure is making the developers and publishers just as busy all the same. With their promised new wares, any event definitely is an opportunity to show what they've got -- and to impress. And we all know it would do everyone a whole lot of good if we get more impressive games around, especially if we want some positive movement in the charts. Physical games media may be at the sunset of their lives, according to David Perry. Speaking at an opening keynote in UK for the 4th Annual Develop Conference in Brighton, the GaiKai founder expressed his belief that "It won't be long before 100 per cent of games are all online."

When flOw burst onto the scene, a lot of people appreciated its minimalist and serene design. Creator Jenova Chen eventually released the game's source code for people to learn from, but now it seems as though someone didn't just learn from it but actually just copied it instead.

And the build up for E3 2009 continues. The good news is that the pre-E3 dry spell hasn't quite started yet, but we're in the final stretch here, folks. Everybody and their mother -- or grandmother, in the case of Old Grandma Hardcore -- is getting ready for June's big event. That still a week away, though. Now as for this week, we once again saw rumors, denials, confirmations and teases about what we'll be seeing not just at the upcoming annual game expo but for the rest of the year as well. Here's a little something for PS3 owners who also happen to rock an iPhone or iPod Touch. An enterprising iPhone dev named V Doshi has come up with an app that lets you check your PS3 Trophies using your Apple devices.
