Have you heard? The PS3's manufacturing costs are now down by around 70%. Will Sony be able to parlay it into a price cut? Nobody knows except for the company's bigwigs, and they aren't telling us anything. Not yet anyway. Hey, at least we know that there'll be new controller colors come October. Ubisoft Community Developers take us into another trip over to San Diego, where the Comic-Con has its eyes set on Assassin's Creed II (PS3, Xbox 360, PC). If you loved the first but had a few bones to pick with it, then this vid might just have a few bits of good news for you.

At the New York Comic-Con last year, Top Cow Productions teased gamers with the possibility that the follow-up to their shooter, The Darkness (PS3 and Xbox 360), is in the works. But we didn't hear anything from them regarding this for a while (15 long months to be exact), until this year's Comic-Con, that is.

Sony has moved to clarify reports that a secret feature included in firmware 2.80 opened up more of the PS3's memory to developers, most likely stemming from a reduction in the console's OS footprint. Details after the jump.

A report circulated earlier on the web about a possible mandatory installation required to play the upcoming  PS3 exclusive Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, but thanks to Twitter, Naughty Dog quickly put an end to the speculation and officially stated that there will be no mandatory installation for the game.

If you're working on a game that highlights the nine circles of hell, you may very well expect debauchery to ensue, at least as far as the storyline or gameplay will go. But having said that, it does not necessarily follow that you'll have a free pass here on Earth when marketing such said game. Electronic Arts should have probably known that from the onset, but I guess they were busy getting all excited about sinning to win. Their newest marketing ploy for Dante's Inferno (PS3, PSP, Xbox 360) launched at the Comic-Con was quite a controversial one, requiring them to make an apology to the offended public.

It won't be the first time that the subject is brought up, but it appears industry journalists are still pretty excited about Kratos' PS3 debut in God of War III, and what the Ghost of Sparta will be packing now that he's in a much more powerful console. Still can't get enough of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves? Well here comes Amy Hennig, creative director of Naughty Dog to give us some more tidbits about the second installment of Nathan Drake to the PS3 at this week's Comic-Con. She talks about the how the story came, the cinematics of the game, the characters, the games multiplayer mode and the dude raider moniker.

Four games dominated the bulk of the hot gaming news that hit the PS3 blog this week -- Uncharted 2, God of War III, LittleBigPlanet, and Killzone 2. The latter two have already been out for a while now but thanks to continued support from their respective developers, PS3 gamers have been getting a steady supply of new content post-launch. As for the first two titles, well, if you're a PS3 owner and you haven't heard of them yet then you really should try and look for another place to live in. I hear sleeping under rocks isn't good for your health.

More news popping out of the Comic-Con in San Diego. Activision has announced that Speedball's alter-emo ego, Penance, will be in your roster of heroes in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 (PS3, PSP, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii, DS). More after the jump.
