Capcom has announced over in the E3 their plans to create a movie based on Lost Planet (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC). As if that's not interesting enough, the company also detailed that the writer in charge of this production is somebody plenty of you should be very familiar with. It's quite sad that the Japanese won't be having a launch party in honor of Konami's opus, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, but for those who live in the US, the show must go on. If you get your PlayStation Network purchases from Japan, then there's probably one game out now that you're dying to pick up. That's right folks: Metal Gear Solid is now out, and you can pick it up by going to the PSN Store. More after the jump!

For many of us, this isn't really such a big deal. The good news is it looks like the Metal Gear Solid movie is still a go. The bad news is that David Hayter won't be involved with the project.

According to IGN, the man who gave Solid Snake a voice will not be a part of the film. Hayter reportedly pitched his take on the Metal Gear Solid movie project to Konami but the company "opted not to hire him to script and/or produce it".

Konami also reportedly passed on a Hayter-penned big-screen treatment, which according to an insider was kind of like Metal Gear Solid meets "Apocalypse Now" with Snake in the middle of a "swirling whirlpool of Genomic/military madness".
