Sony PlayStation 3 owners might want to check the PlayStation Store
out, because Sony's Halloween treat is already online. PSN title Feel Ski,
new applications for the PlayStation Eye, game demos, and a barrage of
videos should prove to be sweeter than a handful of candies.Tori Emaki and Mesmerize, those odd "games" as we've seen in videos, allow players to use the PlayStation Eye to recognize movement. In Tori Emaki, you'll be leading a flock of crows by waving your arms around. Mesmerize, on the other hand, boasts of ten different modes, one of which puts you on the screen and creates funky effects based on your moves. Both are trippy, but they should provide moments of relaxation. Known as Go! Sports Ski in the US, the indie ski simulator Feel Ski is finally available on the European PSN. Along with it come demos of Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights and the much anticipated Pro Evolution Soccer 2008. There are also new videos for Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Eye of Judgement, MotorStorm, and more. Before you run off to check if the goods are in mint condition, hit the full article for a checklist! |

Attention, Sony PlayStation Network Store shoppers in the US aisle: this update's for you, and it's about a deal that could have you flying all over the place in nostalgic retro-gaming joy. Yes, the guys manning the online deal with your Cell-powered Sony PlayStation 3 has recently unveiled a new downloadable title from the fifth generation of videogames. Taking flight once more with the low price of US$ 5.99 comes Spyro the Dragon from the PlayStation One! A little refresher on Spyro the Dragon: he hails from the Dragon Realms, a land of dragons, where much of the population unfortunately got frozen into crystals due to some video-documentary badmouthing of a Gnorc with a temper. Having avoided being turned into a dragon popsicle himself, Spyro flies, charges and scorches his way through colorful but challenging levels to restore order in the Dragon Realms and get back to sheep chasing. Worth the download, I'd say, as the game received quite a lot of good reviews in its day. But that's not all there is to this store update. Other potential purchases you might want to pick up are as follows: Downloadable Games

Aside from Eye of Judgment and Trials of Topoq, Sony revealed another reason to get the PlayStation Eye. EyeCreate is a free downloadable video capturing and editing application for the Sony PlayStation 3, and it will be available on the PlayStation Store this October 23.
EyeCreate not only allows you to record video that can be stored on a memory stick or USB drive, but it's also packed with other nifty functions to pimp out your movie. Time-lapse capturing and the stop-motion functionality are among the features you can play around with. SCEA Assistant Producer Greg Lutton even posted some examples that show what fun things the PlayStation Eye can do when coupled with EyeCreate. We only embedded our favorite video out of the three, so for more details and the rest of the videos, check out the PlayStation Blog via Read link below.

The PlayStation Eye is certainly making a huge coming to the Sony PlayStation 3, with great-looking titles such as Eye of Judgment and Trials of Topog heralding its arrival. But do we really know what sets the PlayStation Eye apart from other cameras, as well as its predecessor the EyeToy camera? To get us up to speed, the guys over at the official PlayStation Blog gave a crash course on what makes the PlayStation Eye so awesome. So what makes it different from the EyeToy? First off, the PlayStation Eye is built to perform well on low-light conditions - so while having some illumination would certainly be great, it doesn't affect the camera's output much even when there's not much light around. It also has two zoom settings with fixed focus which means that the camera takes care of the focusing itself. Neat! How about resolution and framerate? Sony's taken care of that as well, with the Eye engineered to display crisp 640 x 380 resolution at a staggering 60 frames per second. Very nice. But what's best about the PlayStation Eye is that it also has a built-in 4-microphone array that allows Sony PlayStation 3 owners to enjoy in-game voice chat and online AV Chat, with the entire feature designed so that it picks up your voice while canceling out background noise. Not only does this eliminate the need for headsets, but it also gives a clearer audio link between users. Add to that the smooth framerate and resolution, and you have the ultimate webcam. And Sony has more for the PlayStation Eye, it seems - namely, the EyeCreate software. Soon to be a free downloadable application on the PlayStation Network, EyeCreate lets users edit, save, and share the video clips they've made with the PlayStation Eye. And not just video, but photo and audio recordings too. Definitely awesome. So, interested on the PlayStation Eye? You should be, and you can pick up the little gadget by itself, besides the ones bundled with games, for only US$ 39.99 a pop starting on October 23. In the meantime, watch out for more updates! |
