PS3, Xbox 360 - Image 1MMOs are steadily breaking out of their PC confines and into this console generation thanks to the massive support for online play. Speaking at the "MMOs to consoles" panel at the GDC in Austin, Turbine VP of product development Craig Alexander makes a comparison between the two powerhouses of the seventh generation. His thoughts - it's easier to develop MMOs for the Xbox 360 than the PS3.

Turbine - Image 1They're being sued right now, but at least Turbine is still focusing on what they're supposed to do: make games. Over at the Austin GDC, Craig Alexander, the company's VP of project development, confirmed that they currently have a console MMO in the works.

People in the games industry, on the other hand, think that it will be a beginning instead of an end: the beginning of the next console cycle. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli is one of those who believe that 2012 is when the next generation of game consoles will start showing up. *UPDATE* Two demo videos have surfaced from GamesCom 2009.

3D moviesFinally, your own IMAX at home! Stereoscopic 3D tech is now confirmed to head for the PS3 and Mac platforms, care of Next3D. They're going to release their 3D movie player software for free, right about the same time they launch their 3D movie service. Some of you have seen it in action as a preview back in CES and GDC, but now it's set in stone. Just as long as your TV is 3D-ready and you got those Shutter glasses, you guys will be able to watch 1080p HD 3D movies on your PS3s and Macs, and eventually, the Xbox 360 too.
