Enterbrain (Famitsu owner) President Hirokazu Hamamura is making a bold - but not entirely improbable - forecast that Final Fantasy XIII could move another half a million PS3s in Japan. This claim was made at today's Foreign Correspondent's Club of Japan. |

What do you think are the titles that will create the most splash at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show? Enterbrain president Hamamura gives off his own list, and we'd have to agree with notes. |

More light has been shed on Capcom's recent decision to bring Monster Hunter 3 to the Nintendo Wii home video game console. Apparently, development costs for the Sony PlayStation 3 played a part in the company's decision. This was revealed by Katsuhiro Ichii, Capcom's managing corporate officer. Ichii is quoted in a Thompson Financial news report on Hemscott as saying, "Due to high development cost of titles for PS3, we have decided to switch the platform to which we release our Monster Hunter 3 title." Although Monster Hunter 3's multiplatform status is unclear, Sony still has at least one title in the series - Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G - heading for its PlayStation portable handheld gaming system. The same reports also quotes Enterbrain president Hirokazu Hamamura as saying that Monster Hunter 3 could bring more teenage players to the Wii fold as the series has a strong fan base in that particular demographic. Hamamura also noted that the move by Capcom, who has a reputation for creating graphics-intensive titles, could lead to more developers working on Wii titles. The Wii has generally been thought of as unable to handle graphics such as those required by Monster Hunter titles. |

NetMunch News reports that the president of Enterbrain the publisher of the famous Famitsu Magazine, Hirokazu Hamamura has stated that he believes that the Xbox 360 could be a huge success in Japan if Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII were made for the Xbox 360.NetMunch claims that Hamamura believes that the two mentioned titles - if made for the Xbox 360 - could save the console in the Japan region and even help it be as popular as it is in North America. NetMunch even goes as far as to claim that "Sony is losing support from its own nation." Oddly though (and contrary to NetMunch's assertions), the report at GameFront.de of Hirokazu Hamamura's lecture in Tokyo seemed to focus more on how to help the Xbox 360 in Japan, instead of a declaration of support for the Xbox 360 over the Sony PS3. Naming ways to help save the Xbox 360 is far from declaring withdrawal of support for the PS3. Not that Hamamura didn't have anything slightly negative to say about the PS3. In a later report over at GameFront.de the PS3 side of Hamamura's lecture was covered and again those two key titles were mentioned and labeled as crucial to Sony in it's effort to gain market shares. Hamamura also notes that Cell chip manufacturing price reductions could help the console and it's world-wide situation. Hamamura notes that the situation isn't that good but it is far from hopeless. |

The PS3 may not be selling as well as it would like these days, but leave it to someone of great influence across all of console fandom to say something to lighten the hearts of PS3 fanboys everywhere. Hirokazu Hamamura, president of Japanese magazine publisher Enterbrain, said that interest in the PS3 is expected to rise once the high-profile titles come in force.Speaking at a lecture recently, Hamamura said that the PS3 still has its strength in its roots as the successor of the highly-popular PS1 and PS2. With many of the great games set to come out for the PS3, its future success is evident, but is hampered by the lack of specific dates to wait for and increasing doubt among who are running out of patience for their favorite games to be finalized. He says, however, that once the PS3's high profile titles come out, fortunes are certain to change as time passes. He cites Final Fantasy XIII and Metal Gear Solid 4 as two games to watch out for, saying that once the two games are out, PS3 fans can expect even more units pushed out as the primary reasons for people wanting the PS3 are revealed. In the meantime, all we have to is wait, and hope, and pray. |

Enterbrain boss Hirokazu Hamamura said in a NextGen report that he believes that the PS3's price could drop by the end of 2007, following the console's indifferent performance in Japan's January sales figures. Here's his words: "There could be a price cut for the PS3 by the end of the year, and more software titles will hit the market. I expect the PS3 to be doing better after a while. Of course, the Wii will keep running ahead all the while." During the week of January 22-28, Media Create says that sales of PS2 hit 21,000 units while the PS3 sold around 20,000. In comparison, the Wii has sold over 80,000 units. The Xbox 360 sold over 7,000. Enterbrain Inc is the publisher of the Japanese Video game magazine Famitsu - widely considered as the most respected video games magazine in Japan. |
