Worried about using your current controllers for Street Fighter 4 (PS3, Xbox 360)? Do images of loose controls and sore thumbs keep you awake at night? Worry not because Capcom says there's a solution for that! The Japanese publishers have set out to provide better handles with especially designed control units for you. More after the jump. |

Talk about huge. Thanks to a news item on Kotaku, we got word that game peripheral manufacturer Hori is planning to release a 160 GB HDD PS3 hard drive this August. According to the specs they've put up over at ITmedia, the hard drive connects to the PlayStation 3 using USB and runs at a fast 5400 rpm. That's definitely a lot of added power for the game machine, but how much will it cost? If you have a pretty hefty wallet and feel like emptying the contents of the thing, get ready to shell out 29,140 yen (US$ 240) for the addon. There's certainly a lot of uses we can see for this thing, especially if you're planning to use your PS3 as a secondary Linux supercomputer of some sort. In any case, expect it to come out on August 2. |

Japanese game accessory maker Hori, has recently revealed their upcoming racing controller for the PS3. Named the Zero Tech 3 controller, the accessory features a trigger-grip design with a sideways mounted analog steering control.
The design should allow players to use their left hand to control the accelerator and brake triggers, while maintaining steering control with the right hand. There's even a thumb shifter for changing gears. While that's great and all, a possible problem with the controller is that it isn't wireless. Below is an image of the product: The Japanese company plans to release the Zero Tech 3 controller this July and should retail for approximately US$ 42. For more info on the controller, feel free to run the "read" link below through an online translation engine of your choice. |

Tab this gadget under one of the "looks cool but probably does nothing really worthy" collection. While browsing for good deals in Play-Asia, we came across this PS3 protector from Hori. No, it won't stop robbers from nicking your 600-dollar console, but Hori's claiming it will prevent dust and nicotine from crawling inside your top-of-the-line Cell-powered unit.Hori's Dust & Nicotine Guard 3 is built to screen the air being sucked by the PS3's fans. Priced at almost US$ 17 per unit, it's supposed to be available starting April 26th. Now we know there's nothing more disgusting than nicotine-stained keyboards and controller buttons, but since this one's for the console itself, how useful can it really be? It's your call really. |

Japan and North America are already enjoying their bit of Sega's Virtua Fighter 5 for the PS3. And while Europe still has got some waiting to do, it's never too late nor too early to gear up for this versus fighting title. So, apart from cracking your knuckles and stretching your arms in preparation for one tough game, you might as well prepare your controllers, too. And no, we ain't just talking about the usual SIXAXIS PS3 controller. If you head on over to Amazon right now, you'll see that they've got a rather interesting accessory up for sale. It's HORI's PS3 Fighting Stick. See that picture right there? That's what it looks like. And it's pretty obvious from the name of the product just what it's supposed to do. And here's a lineup of what it has: - Turbo function with hold & switch buttons - Slow, normal and fast Turbo settings - Includes HOME button with the same functionality as the PS button on SIXAXIS controllers - Lever and buttons are positioned to match the layout used in arcade machines - USB connection; 3-meter cable length I guess that ought to make your combos more challenging and interesting, eh? Anyhow, if you're interested, go ahead and click on the Read link below. Oh, and be ready to shell out US$ 49.99 for it as well. |

Looks like fans of the joystick style of playing fighting games will finally be in their element once Tekken and Virtua Fighter 5 come out for the PlayStation 3. Hori Corp. Japan will be coming out with two different arcade-style controllers for use with Sony's new console. The two controllers, as you see above, are the Hori Fighting Stick 3 (left) and the Hori Real Arcade Pro 3. They're heavy-duty arcade workhorses, capable of playing through the toughest arcade games. Best of all, they plug in through USB. Even if they both carry all the functions of your standard SIXAXIS controller, including the L3 and R3 commands, the Arcade Pro 3 is somewhat higher-priced. We're currently unsure of the differences between the two, as the site describes the Arcade Pro 3 as adopting "those which are equal to the part which is used for the lever and the principal button part at the arcade actualizes the operation impression of not being different from the real thing." Yep, that's some wacky Japanese translation there. Of course, if the cheaper one lets you win just as easily as the more expensive one, then you might as well get the Fighting Stick, right? Wait for word of imports to come out in January. For now though, you can think about saving ¥5,299 (US$ 45) and ¥8,379 (US$ 71) for Hori's Fighting Stick 3 and Real Arcade Pro 3, respectively. |

So, you guys probably know that the PS3's got a software update recently. And by recently, I mean just yesterday. Version 1.30's now out, but it's exclusive for North American units only. And by exclusive, I mean, ONLY PS3 units bought in North America are only eligible for this update. So if you purchased that console in Japan, this update is a definite no-no for you.So what does this update has to offer? Well, according to the official PlayStation site, version 1.30 will enable your PS3 to detect various USB devices, specifically:
