Tekken 6 details reveal the truth, I am a woman. - Image 1Everyone wants to know more about Namco Bandai's Tekken 6 for Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3). Who can blame them considering this video game is probably one of the most popular fighting games in the world? SD Tekken in its recent article posted information on the game. It got the details from issue of Arcadia Magazine  where Katsuhiro Harada, the producer of Tekken 6, was interviewed. So what new details were found?

Aside from the fact that the animations have been changed for every character, it has been revealed that all characters will have an “item move” (just like the Bryan using the shotgun in the trailer). It should be noted that not all moves will be equally powerful (i.e. Anna throwing her high heels at her opponents is her character's item move).

Yoshimitsu has undergone a major overhaul. Harada noted that Yoshimitsu is much more difficult to use now and can be considered an "Expert" character. He also said that in the storyline, his sword is now losing power and he must use new fighting style: Kenjutsu from the Manji clan. This style incorporates dual sword fighting and fist fighting.

Lei Wulong fans might be a bit unnerved to learn that his laying down stances have been changed. To be more precise, SD Tekken has compared the new stance to Lei Fei's and Shun Di's laying down stance from Virtua Fighter 5. Some changes were also implemented regarding Lei being counter-hit or juggled from his laying down stances.

Marshall Law was also overhauled - SD Tekken said that Bruce Lee and Jeet Kun Do fans would be pleased by these changes. Could it be that he is now more flexible as a character, with more avenues of attack?

The final and perhaps most groundbreaking revelation from Harada is his re-confirmation that Leo is a indeed a girl. This has ended the long standing feud among the QJ bloggers regarding her gender.

Tekken 6 is set to be released next year for the PS3. We are anxiously waiting to see if the game becomes as popular as the previous iterations of the game have.

Jin Kazama, main protagonist of the Tekken series... - Image 1IGN interviewed Haruki Suzaki, the project director for Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, the man behind the PSP version and in charge of the downloadable PS3 version.

Here are some highlights of what Suzaki had to say about the PS3 version:

Jinpachi Mishima is playable.
Other than that, it is a complete port of the arcade version of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection; the gameplay has not been messed with. And it's fully HD compatible with beautiful graphics.

Graphics.
Suzaki said it wasn't difficult to port the game to the PS3 because the PS3 is far more powerful than the arcade hardware. However, the graphics were very different, and they had a tough time upgrading to 1080p, although they did use the same textures and character models (before the PS3 came along, they would have had to remove polygons or make the textures simpler).

Downloadable Content">Downloadable content. If demand is high, they might add Gallery Mode.

Versions. In terms of special game features or modes, there are no differences between the Japanese version of Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and the English version.

Modes. The downloadable PS3 version is a port of the arcade version with some extras thrown in. The PSP-exclusive modes aren't in the PS3 version, but the PS3 version's Ghost Battle Mode is based on the PSP version's Gold Rush Mode.

Tekken versus Virtua Fighter. Suzaki said that he and Katsuhiro Harada agree: a "Tekken versus Virtua Fighter" game needs to be made - but it will be difficult to do. "More than anything, we believe this decision greatly lies in our fans," Suzaki said. "So, we would actually like to ask for our fans' opinion on this."

TekkenKatsuhiro Harada, Tekken producer, mentioned to IT Media that the next Tekken game will use PS3's motion-sensing capabilities. Hints were made as to the use of the controller, but nothing was confirmed. Possibilities include using it to shake yourself free when locked in a stranglehold maneuver but no definite comments were made.

First use of the motion sensor? Looks promising! Hopefully the PS3 will be able to stand up to the accusations being made about robbing the Wii of its main attraction! After all, it's the quality of fun that matters most, right?
