If you've already received but haven't tried out your free Netflix PS3 streaming disc yet, do it now. Sony and Netflix have announced that the movie streaming service is now live.

Sequels, sequels, sequels. Lots of talk about those this week. While most other companies are busy making sure they get to release a big-name game with a "2" after its title, Media Molecule is preferring the opposite, opting for a sequel-less yet DLC-supported approach for LittleBigPlanet. Speaking of, it seems the PS3 price cuts are also doing wonders for software sales when it comes to sequels, or so an OTX report tells us.

Movie-loving PS3 owners who took advantage of the recent PS3 support announcement from Netflix should go check their emails right now. Netflix has sent out a mass email saying that the streaming discs are shipping out today.

Wary that Netflix might run out of supply for the disc that they're distributing to patrons being offered for free for the PS3? VP for Corporate Communications Steve Swasey allays those fears, reassuring that there will be ample supply for every PS3 user who will request for the instant streaming disc.

That didn't take too long to confirm. A mere day after word got out of the possibility that Netflix will indeed be coming to either the PS3 or the Wii (or both), we now have official confirmation from Sony that the movie streaming service will definitely be on their console. They wouldn't say which hardware their service will be coming to, but it sure did wonders for their stocks. Netflix just sent out word Friday that they will be offering their movie streaming service soon through a device "owned by a large number of consumers."

If Reed Hastings had his way, his movie rental company's services would be spread out over all three seventh generation consoles. That's what the Netflix CEO told Reuters earlier this week.

The Xbox 360's been enjoying Netflix for some time now, and it's always been hoped that the service will eventually come to the PlayStation 3 too. Now the rumor mill is churning out new info that this might happen after all. Not only that, it might even come to the Wii as well.

Janco Partners analyst Mike Hickey will probably forever be known to gamers as the guy who said Sony would rip Blu-ray out of the PS3 in order to cut down its price tag. I still don't think that's gonna happen, and so does Sony, apparently. Speaking to Business Insider, Sony execs answered a few questions about the PS3 as well as the PSP, not least of which is the matter of the non-Blu-ray PS3.
