Despite an 18% loss in revenue last quarter as compared to last year's,
Electronic Arts is confident the launch of a number of holiday titles
and an upcoming restructuring would put them back in the game. The
changes will focus on efficiency and cost-cutting. Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter remains positive about the
future of the studio, saying: "They
appear to have costs under control and revenue growth is solid." |

Chart Track UK has announced the games topping their all-format charts ending for the week ending September 29. Much like the warm welcome it enjoyed in North America, Bungie Studios' Halo 3 finds an equally receptive gaming audience in the UK as it takes the top post. Electronic Arts' Medal of Honor: Airborne (PS3, PC, Xbox 360) - which topped the charts in our last report - appears to have parachuted all the way down to 12. FIFA 08 (PS3, PSP, PS3, Xbox 360) currently holds the second place, followed by MySims, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08, and Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights.

For those of you who didn't catch the Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 demo from Electronic Arts which went online recently, prepare to change your mind. This video has one of the project's bosses Mike Cayado talking about Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08's features. While you're listening in, take the time to gawk at the sweet graphics. Check it out:
Mike mainly talks about the GamerNET, a new feature that measures every move you make in the game and allows you to upload the clip to share it with everyone online. The feature works great not only for showing off, but also for earning points that will enhance your saved game. Also discussed was the Photo Face feature that allows you to take a snapshot of yourself or download an image online and have a created golfer put it on. The amazing thing about this is that the game generates expressions using the image data, so your face will react realistically on any given situation and not remain stone-faced, staring at nothingness all the time. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 is headed for the Microsoft Xbox 360, the Sony PlayStation 3, and the PC. Buy: [Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 (Xbox 360)] Buy: [Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 (PS3)] |

Rejoice, PlayStation 3 owners. We've got some good news for you. The PlayStation Store has been updated and we're sure you'll find something interesting in this wave of updates. Remember what Namco Bandai promised a few days ago? The Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection patch is here and it sports online gameplay and two single player modes (Survival and Practice). If you already have Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, the update will cost US$ 10, if you don't have it yet, you can purchase the Online Bundle (the game plus the update) for US$ 30. A bunch of other goodies are now available on the PlayStation Store: images for Heavenly Sword Anime No. 4 and Super Puzzle Fighter II, game videos for Heavenly Sword Anime No. 4, Heavenly Sword "Making Of" No. 4, a Folklore "Surviving the Netherworld" Trailer and Clive Barker's Jericho Trailer, and movie videos for Bee Movie and Beowulf. You'll also be glad to know that it's not all eye candy, as some demos are making a debut on the Store as well. Included in the rain of updates demos for Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo (the full game is also available), Nascar 08, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2008, and All-Pro Football 2K8 Demo. Anyway, this PlayStation Network update will probably keep you busy in the days to come. Enjoy! Thanks to Amish Gramish for the tip! |

Hot off the big BioShock launch last week, more great games are coming to stores this week. Particularly eye-catching is that wham-banger Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. There's also a new Naruto game coming out on the PSP, and Stranglehold will smash in to the PC and Xbox 360 scenes.Fighting games, racing titles and sports sims, as well as casual puzzle games are also in the mix. There's something for everyone, so dig in: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The latest sequel to one of the most decorated game franchises of all time is due out tomorrow exclusively for the Nintendo Wii. Samus is back and this time, the Wii Nunchuk is her toy of choice. Old moves and new weapons converge to create a new mind-blowing experience for the genre.

A correspondent for Crave along with a few other tech journalists were given a surprise treat during the PGA Tour when Mitsubishi demonstrated advances in their 3D tech. The journalists were given 3D glasses that demonstrated their tech and later revealed that they have a Blu-ray player in development that can convert 2D movies into 3D "on the fly."The journalists were up at Westchester Country Club to cover Mitsubishi's tech for the golf tour when they were given the demonstration. The 3D glasses they were given were smaller than the ones displayed in the image. The 3D glasses were cool enough as it displayed material shot in 3D so you really get the feel of dimensions in the shots, but the kicker was the 2D-to-3D Blu-ray converter. According to the journalist, Mitsubishi plans to release the new Blu-ray tech early next year and that they were in talks with a console manufacturer to incorporate it. He surmises that it's probably the PlayStation 3, which would be the logical choice among the next gen consoles. So will we see this 3D wonder tech from Mitsubishi anytime soon? If so, we'll probably be hearing more about it. Watch out for updates. |
