It's official: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has been given a perfect review score by Japanese publication Famitsu. This means that Hideo Kojima's latest offering is only the eighth game to receive that accolade, joining the likes of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy XII atop the electronic entertainment tower. See the scan after the jump. |

They have rumors of an Assassin's Creed movie in the works, a Cloverfield game, and even the setting for the Uncharted sequel. Check them all out and more in the full article. |

The Official Playstation Magazine was so damn lucky to be one of the first to play Killzone 2. Aside from the BBC who were also there in the demo room of the Guerilla Games labs, OPM was more than ecstatic to be able to tell the world of how their playthrough of the third level went. Sparc from the PS3Forums was able to scan (ok, fine, photograph) some pages from OPM's magazine. Click the thumbs to enlarge the pics. Here's part of the OPM author's impressions: One of the best things about Killzone 2 is death. Thanks to a mix of ragdoll physics and traditional animation, you really feel like the Helghast are giving it 100% when they die. [...] much of the scenery is destructible. Pull the trigger and the world around you crumbles, shatters and splinters. [...] I follow my AI-controlled comrades into a nearby building complex. Once inside it's the audio that impresses. Guerilla uses a technique called ambient occlusion. [...] behind concrete walls the noise of battle from outside becomes thick and muffled, while your own shots echo through the corridors. While the preview of it is all good, an interview with producer Steven Ter Heide and managing director Hermen Hulstwas included towards the end. They talk about a lot of things but what caught our interest was some hint of future plans on multiplayer features. The best part comes at the last page when Heide said "...there's a lot of interesting things we're going to be able to do. But we can't talk about it yet. Home is also very interesting. There's a lot of opportunity there, and it's all part of our multiplayer strategy." |

The rumor mill is in full production today, and it's churning out a fresh supply for Sony Computer Entertainment Japan's upcoming puzzle game designed to play with your mind, Echochrome (PSP, PS3). It seems that the game, which is all about how angles and perspectives can change the in-game world drastically, may have no less than three sequels in the pipeline. This juicy tidbit comes from a page of the Official PlayStation Magazine, in the PlayStation Network section. In that section lies a mini-article talking about Echochrome, and how Sony Japan has mysteriously patented the titles Echoblack, Echosepia and Echowhite. See a pattern forming there? Curious, no? Either way, this bodes only good tidings for those of us with PSPs in our pockets and PS3s in our living rooms. After all, Echochrome is sandbox fun at its finest - more of it would simply be icing on the cake. |

There's been a few wisps of smoke but no fire in sight as far as Disgaea 3
for the Sony PlayStation 3 is concerned. This time though we've got
some hard evidence that will eventually materialize because of these
new scans that Moetron found in the Dengeki Playstation Magazine.
As you can see, the wily bunch is back for more tactical action in the Netherworld. Disgaea 3's graphics doesn't seem like the typical next-gen graphics but quite frankly, who cares? For Nippon Ichi titles, the deep gameplay and the demonic hilarity have always been the selling points and that tradition would probably continue. So, will Overlord Baal still be the last secret boss? What's new in the item world? We're hoping to see more of Lord Zetta and Vyers again. Them and more prinnies and Prism Rangers too! What do you think? More Disgaea 3 scans after the jump! |

It is really a good thing that Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) decided to have an official blog. While we all know that most of the interviews coming from the site are canned, it's important for the PlayStation community to hear the updates from the officials themselves.Speaking of which, one member of the PlayStation Blog under the online name "west" posted a question regarding the PlayStation 3's firmware. He was wondering when will the next update go live. SCEA PR Senior Manager Patrick Seybold picked up the question and answered, "Early next week, we'll have something on the firmware". Aside from that, no more details were given. Any speculation as to what this "something" is? It should be remembered that PlayStation Magazine (PSM) France recently ran an article saying that the next firmware update will include rumble for PS2 video games. Tell us what you think through the comments section below. |
