Despite a beta plagued with problems, Capcom has announced that Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is still lined up for a release this year. Hopefully, the buggy-as-hell beta means a non-buggy final release of the game. |

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Amycall's mobile offering is going for the gold. The phone manufacturer's PS3 phone carries other concepts "borrowed" from other consoles, the details of which you can pick up over in the full article. |

An article posted on Infendo ran a discussion on the prospect of the Wii, and in effect Nintendo, going monopolistic as it did in the NES era and taking over the gaming world. The article pointed to the weakening sales of main rival Microsoft Xbox 360 and altogether dismissed the significance of Sony's PlayStation 3 in this generation's console war.Pointing to the successful marketing and innovations of the Wii while highlighting the decline in Xbox 360 sales, the article imagined Nintendo's hot-selling console rolling out in all directions and flattening everything in its path. The reports of Nintendo publishing 124 first-party games in 2007 seemed to suggest to the author that an encore of the SNES days may be at hand. The article went as far as comparing the Xbox 360 to the iPod, saying "Apple's iPod rollout -- a product which sold at the time for more than the Xbox 360 -- it had sold nearly 30 million units. Microsoft is struggling to achieve less than half that." The article concludes that the Xbox 360 may very well be "2007's house of cards." There are a lot of other interesting points raised by the write-up which you may want to read for yourself. We won't make any judgments regarding the ideas expressed, though we would like to point out that iPods and Xbox 360s are two very different products that cater to distinct crowds. You may own both, but it's not likely that you bought them for the same reasons. And what about each console serving niche crowds categorized by age groups? You be the judge of that. Now, who would have thought it?According to the German gaming site GameFront, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun has released a report about a press conference which has just been held by Nintendo. As most press conferences go, the Nintendo officials spoke about upcoming game titles, the financial gains of the company, movements and plans in general. However, one simple statement from Nintendo President Satoru Iwata made the event a whole lot more exciting. According to the Japanese newspaper, Iwata stated that they "would love to see Kutaragi join up with Nintendo". Now, this may generate a lot of reactions, but then again, how this will all develop would be nothing short of interesting. After all, Kutaragi's honorary position at Sony isn't exactly a very active office, and The Father of Playstation has also stated in recent interviews that his next ventures would mostly be independent from Sony, so there MAY be a good chance that he'll take Nintendo up on his offer. After all, it cannot be denied that Kutaragi has a long history with Nintendo, since he IS the guy who gave the SNES the gift of sound, via the SPC700 chip which he designed. However, considering the fact that Kutaragi was also once badly slighted by Iwata's predecessors (think: Hiroshi Yamauchi, CES 1989, and a botched Play Station announcement... note the space in between "Play Station"), one can't really tell what Crazy Ken will do next. |
