Alex St. John, the CEO of online video game company WildTangent, has predicted at the Casual Connect
conference in Seattle that consoles will be "extinct" by 2020. He said
that "the PS3, the Wii and the X-box are the last generation of
consoles that you either see or that anybody regards as successful in
the market." Want to know what else he had to say? Well, the "read more" link is right below, use it. |

Guess who's trying to cash in on the war economy. It's an old member of the first Metal Gear Solid's technical advisor team. He was busted by federal officials for trying to illegally ship gun accessories to Japan while in active duty with the US Army. More after the jump. |

We know hardly any of you would look this way, now that your pre-order of Snake's final chapter has shipped to your doorstep. But Sony would just like you to know that they've added new things to the US PlayStation Store this week, and some of it's even angled to enhance your Metal Gear Solid 4 experience. There's also a slew of free downloadable content for both the next generation console and the PSP, as well as UMD titles finally hitting the PC store. Read more to get the full list. |

It's never too early to reserve a place in the next Penny Arcade Expo (PAX). It was announced today that the event will be accepting registrations as early as January 2008. The last PAX had 37,000 gamers roaming its floor. Tickets were sold out so early registration may be a good idea.PAX 2008 will be held on August 29 to 31 and attendance is expected to double again. "Again" because attendance has been doubling ever since the first PAX. The attendance grew so large that the last event was held in the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle just to fit everyone in. Next year's PAX will mark the expo's fifth year and will continue the tradition of game exhibitions, conference programs (about games of course), concerts, tournaments, freeplay gaming and general fun times for everyone and all in the gaming community. |

A group of thieves are currently on the run after stealing 200 Blu-ray discs from giant retailer, Silver Platters. Seattle Times reports that the burglary at Northgate is currently under investigation, after around US$ 7,000 worth of Blu-ray discs were snagged.Almost all of the store's Blu-ray selection were taken away, said Silver Platters Vice President Mike Batt. The same retailer offers HD-DVDs and DVDs, but they were left unharmed. Recent reports say that Blu-ray discs are outselling HD-DVD five-to-one. Even in Europe, where more HD-DVD players are reaching households than the stand alone Blu-ray player, Sony's high-definition format is still ahead in sales figures. |

High-flying University of Texas star forward Kevin Durant may be headed to the NBA and all, but before he goes pro, he's leaving a little something to secure his place in the NCAA memoirs. He's gracing the cover of NCAA March Madness 08 and he talks about it in this video:
March Madness is EA Sports' flagship college basketball game which allows players to dress up in the jerseys of their favorite college squads and take on the top ball clubs to see who will take the national title. If you're wondering why names of players have so far not been displayed in the series, it's because the act is against league policies. The only clue you'll get on the identities of ballers are the numbers on their uniforms. It shouldn't be too hard for league fans who've been following the series closely. By the way, Durant spent only one year in the NCAA when he joined the University of Texas which earned him the reputation of being the most exciting college player in America and the honor of Big 12 Player of the Year award in 2006. He has mow opted for a spot in the NBA Draft and is currently working out with the Seattle Supersonics. Let's see if we see him on the same team in NBA Live 08. |
