Who'd have thunk it? Adam Yauch a.k.a. MCA of the Beastie Boys will be showing off his mad skateboarding skills (at least virtually) in Activision's upcoming skater game, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. He'll be one of the new faces that will grace the famous, if improbable, line up of bonus skaters for the game. Included in this update is the complete soundtrack listing for Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, totalling a hefty 54 licensed songs all in all. Included in this list will be famous bands that play to the tune which has marked this high-velocity series, such as the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Slick Rick, and Jurassic 5. Activision also announced an added bonus for those getting the Xbox 360 version of the game. The game will include a five song demo of "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock." While the demo will be available soon on the Xbox Live, this is definitely a freebie that will be hard to pass up on. Developed by Neversoft, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground is scheduled for release during the last quarter of this year. It will be coming out for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Nintendo DS and Wii. Check out the complete list of songs and their respective artists right after the jump! |

With the release of Electronic Arts' Skate (Xbox 360, PS3) right around the corner, we could smell sweaty anticipation from miles away. EA's attempt to reach a market dominated by Tony Hawk's Pro Skater may very well be a successful one, as most of us know what the gig is all about. Here are some videos showing off what this down-to-earth video game has to offer.
By down-to-earth, we don't mean Skate will be lacking the bells and whistles of a complete skating game. What it brings to the table is more realistic skateboarding, almost strict physics, and no death-defying jumps off half-pipes. Doesn't sound too rad, you say? The first couple of videos will show you what tricks you can bust and how good they look. The third one is a short but sweet advertisement about encouraging your thumb to nail tricks while playing Skate. That's right - your thumb. Through flickit controls, a dexterous thumb and sticks can do wonders. Find out more by checking the videos out.. More videos at the Full Article!

Some six videos just went up on IGN, featuring various tricks you can nail in Electronic Arts' Skate (PS3, 360).
From popping the Shove It to grinding, EA's entry to the skateboarding
genre undoubtedly looks like it'll play different from the reigning
king, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.
To hit it off the ground, gravity in Skate is more realistic, preventing players from reaching unbelievable heights. Nailing more than a single flip trick from flat land seems to be a challenge, as we can see in several videos. Grinding is more down-to-earth and balance-oriented as far as we can gather. What the big names in skateboarding have in common is how painful bailing looks. You'll see in one of the videos that when a skater falls down, he falls down bad. Another similarity is in the environment, as Skate doesn't really appear different from Tony Hawk Pro Skater's skate parks. This game is all about capturing the feel of real skateboarding, so let's quit the chatter. Find all the rock solid videos below after the jump!

Activision is dead set on taking the skateboarding genre to the next level with Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (PS3, Xbox 360, Wii). Not only will there be cool new features like a fully functional video editor and customizable skate pad that you can show off to your friends online, but the core game also offers a story for all kinds of skaters - pro, hardcore, and street skaters.
In this video, Chad Findley walks us through the path of a career skater. Like the name implies, players who'll chose this option will have to take on the challenges of going pro. Following stories inspired by real skaters, you'll be taking the shoes of an upcoming star in his rise to fame. This means you'll be learning from the basics, and will have access to full skater control. Proving Ground aims to reach new heights by putting realism up a notch - players will be able to control their skater's feet or hands completely with sticks. If you choose to go pro, you'll be doing these a lot to create your own tricks for magazines. Find out what we're talking about by watching the video below.
