Fallout 3 - Image 1I don't know if this is the weekend lull sending my brain into atrophy, but I seem to be having a hard time grasping why developers and publishers are deciding the way they do with their games. Earlier, we got word on Sega not having any plans of bringing Yakuza 3 to the PS3. Now, we have Bethesda not planning to make post-ending play possible for Fallout 3 on the PS3. What's up, guys?

CliffyB - Image 1So why is it, pray tell, that most of the games we see today are either sequels or spin-offs? You've got Gears of War 2, BioShock 2, Resident Evil 5, Patapon 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, God of War III, Fable 2... the list goes on. Yes, from time to time new IPs pop into the picture, but they're few and far between, unfortunately. Maybe an article at Reuters can shed light on this "sequel spammage" scenario, as well as reveal some of the measures that they take to make their sequels more approachable to the general market.

The reason why there are mandatory installations for PS3 games - Image 1Bothered by the fact that Capcom's Devil May Cry 4 had a 20-minute install time in your PS3 console? Curious to know why Lost Planet: Extreme Condition required 5 GB just for installing it? Well, most of the games in market don't have this daunting feature. It's really related to the disc formats such as DVD and Blu-ray. Find out why after the jump!

Bethesda, developers of Fallout 3 answer some questions about the game - Image 1In an open forum presented by Bethesda on their forums site, Todd Howard, the executive producer for the game, played a game of twenty questions with a select number of posters regarding their upcoming post-apocalyptic RPG, Fallout 3. They offered some new insights and also clarified old issues posted in previous articles about the game.

They still kept to their word of the game being a first person shooter with added features regarding the way the VATS' precise aiming can turn back the clock by reliving the old days of its turn-based aspect. They took their time explaining the VATS in detail, although most people might end up having even more questions about the system rather than answers.

They were pretty tight lipped about whether the old perks, skills and traits system will be reprised for Fallout 3 or not. They have confirmed that fans will still be able to encounter the old "suggestive" themes the previous Fallout games were notorious for. Even the casual use of drugs and other substances to raise your character's stats, along with it's corresponding side-effects, will be the same as with the previous games.

After taking a page out of Bethesda's Oblivion, Fallout 3 is definitely shaping up to be one of the most anticipated sequels to come up again after a long time. For those of you interested in seeing the detailed answers to the Q&A set up by Bethesda, just hop on over to Bethesda forum through the read link provided below.
